It really is. Caleb Williams - I’ll decide where I want to play and am seeking ownership of the team. On the bears. Shadeur -we will decide where shadeur plays. He’s a top 5 pick. Browns in the 5th lol |

Yeah, me too. I got to a point where I wanted above average employees with positive attitudes that were a pleasure to work with. I didn’t want any super elite employees that were a-holes. But in Shadeur’s case, the jury is still out if he’s any better than a #2 or #3 QB on the roster. So he better not act like an entitled prima Donna, because NFL stands for Not For Long. Far be it from me to defend the Browns of all franchises, but they need a QB, they drafted one early, Sanders still there for a cheap salary, why not? Watson is out injured and done, and you can move Flacco. A moribund franchise that needs something. I see why they did it. Let them compete for a starting spot.

even if they just had 2, does having qbs compete for a spot ever work out? i think it generally just stunts development no? |

I mean, if you’re a hot shot college QB going into draft, aren’t the Browns the last team you want to be drafted by?
Also, the Browns actually drafted a great QB who is playing in the NFL. He threw for 4,500 yards and 41 TDs in 2024. The only problem is that he’s playing for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers now. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

By the way, all those rumors about the Eagles wanting Sanders in the 5th round might not be so far fetched.
The Eagles did draft a QB. Kyle McCord, from Syracuse. So, maybe where there was smoke, there was fire. And that could be why Cleveland traded into one spot above Philly in the 5th round. No doubt Cleveland was aware of all the chatter. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

My only question is but why. Why would you draft a media hungry football royalty guy under Jalen who just proved exactly who he is. This would be like what Green Bay did to Rodger’s except many years sooner. Of course he’s not taking his job but an unneeded distraction when you’re looking to go back to back. I wouldn’t want this guy in buffalo if they gave us a third to take him. It’s possible Philly is the only city that believes they could win the Super Bowl with their backup QB…because they’ve already done it. |

I don’t know. I’ve been reading all sorts of conspiracy theories on NFL Internet forums all day. But Adam Schefter was talking about this on the NFL Network. 1) The Eagles need a backup QB. And Sanders could have been #1 on their list, but they didn’t want to take him higher than the 5th round. The Eagles are one organization that could sit on him and get him under control. There is no doubt that Siriani, Howie and the Eagles could neuter him to the point where he just shuts up and acts like a backup QB. Coincidentally, the Browns traded up to 144 to draft Sanders. The Eagles had the 145th pick. Why do teams trade up? It’s simple. They trade up because they’re concerned another team will draft a player they want. The Eagles then drafted a QB shortly thereafter. Kyle McCord. So, clearly the Browns were concerned that the Eagles might draft Sanders, and the Eagles did draft a QB. So all of it adds up. But is it true or coincidental? I don’t know. It’s intriguing for sure and the way you lay it out makes it seem plausible. I just meant like what in the world. I personally don’t believe anyone is neutering this guy. It would be even funnier if the eagles trolled the browns into thinking they would take him. Of course there’s no reason to do that. |
Quote:
It’s funny you mention that. Because they are a bunch of Cowboys fans claiming that Howie Roseman and the Eagles purposely leaked information to get another team to react. And the purpose of this was to prevent the Cowboys from drafting Sanders. Lots of Cowboy fans apparently wanted Sanders. Of course, it’s just a conspiracy theory. But it’s noteworthy. Eagles are living rent free in the minds of Cowboy fans. lol Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
One of the most interesting parts of the draft for me was the Sander’s status dropping. Some were predicting he would be the number two or three man taken over all. Don’t get me wrong, he is an exceptional talent, but I have HEARD he was disrespectful in interviews, (there is a story he took a Facetime call while in the interview with a head coach, look it up), that he was arrogant while meeting with team officials and other various stories. I wasn’t there, so don’t know, and you want your quarterback to be cocky, but respect is earned and he hasn’t earned a thing in the NFL yet. Think about being a head coach with him on your team. He hasn’t performed well and you replace him in the third/fourth quarter. You just know, the media is going to be hounding Deon for his reaction and comment, posting it everywhere, and the coach is going to have to answer questions on that decision the entire week. Is he really worth all that?

Notice the look of enthusiasm from the GM and the coach of the Browns as the Sanders selection is announced--this is the live feed that aired from their draft room. Haslam must have insisted they draft Sanders, by the looks on their faces. No high-fives in that room. Daily Mail story link: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/nf...NFL-Draft.html
Love the "blink twice if you need help" comment. |

I noticed that. Also, on the first night, when the Steeelers drafted, I noticed that half the war room looked totally pssssst off after they made the final decision. Not sure anyone else noticed that. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Because of his dad and his presence around sports his whole life the kid has a natural ease around famous people, so I wouldn't expect him to have the groveling deference expected from most draft candidates, which may annoy a lot of front office types. But, I give zero credibility to an anonymous source in an NFL front office. If their opinion mattered they would be open to state it in the light of day. I didn't think he was a first rounder. But, the Steelers have Mason Rudolf, Kenny Pickett (neither can play) and the hope of a has been Aaron Rogers as their options this year. I expected Sanders to go to the Steelers in round 3. |

The Browns have another Haslam hire (does Sanders get a couple hundred million guaranteed though). |
Cleveland: Where QBs go to die.
With 5 QBs on the roster now, will Sanders even make the team, especially since his dad isn't calling the shots anymore? Wouldn't it have been better for him to have been undrafted so he could be an undrafted free agent and go to any team he wanted and try out? All that said, he stands to make less in the NFL than he did in college. The irony in all this is that college football has no salary cap where the NFL does. |
Quote:
The Browns are hoping he shows potential and they can get something out of him when they move on. He won't last on the practice squad, someone will pick him up for nothing. The best hope for the Browns is they get a fourth rounder for him next year. |
Wish NFL could discipline that Falcon's DC.. What his son did was inexcusable!

I agree. He should be suspended/docked pay or something. He made a mockery of their draft. |

It makes you wonder what other information has been gleaned from his unsecured tablet and is loose on the interent. As a matter of trust, if he worked for me I'd be looking for his replacement. |

Couldn’t agree more. |
Unsubstantiated rumor and I don't have access to Ulbrich's tablet. Rogers didn't want to play in Pittsburg if he had to compete with Sanders. The Steelers passed on Sanders to lock in Rogers.

I would have renewed HBO if it was AR and shadeur competing for a job in the burgh on hard knocks lol |

Rogers needs the competition. He was slacking for the Packers until they drafted Love. AR heard footsteps and found his MVP game again. He doesn't want to compete for a job though. He wants to be the diva princess that dictates how the team operates. Aaron Glenn wasn't having it and booted him out of town. I'm surprised Tomlin will put up with his decidely un-Steelers like ways. Especially since it's obvious that AR has lost mobility and can't stay on time with his receivers. Where are the Steelers now? Waiting for the drama queen to give them an answer. |
At this point, Rodgers is a one to two year option for 90 rating QB if he can stay healthy. But he will want to start. And want to be on a Super Bowl contender.
While he may want to play for a Super Bowl contender, he won't be able to lift up a team to a Super Bowl level. He really is just some guy who can play QB. And bring a tremendous amount of baggage and angst to your team. |
I can’t imagine why anyone would want to bank on Rodger’s after watching him on the jets. That team had a relatively stacked roster and he couldn’t do sh*+. Outside QB the jets had a more talented roster than the bills or pats or dolphins I’d argue.

$100K fine for the Falcons coach and $250K to the Falcons organization for the Sanders phone number leak and prank.

Seems silly to prank a guy with his draft value. He already knows he’s going top 10 hell or high water. |
most owners didn't want Sanders two reasons he's not that good and you get daddy aka Prime in with deal.........daddy interfering all the time:thumbsdow
