My Rolex 116400GV
|
That's nice, I like it
|
Was there a functional reason why they offered a green crystal on the Milgauss or was it purely for the cosmetics ?
|
Well..... because green is the in-house colour for Rolex ..??
|
Hi everyone, can anyone tell me what bracelet would have originally come on my 1968 1019? I'm more familiar with Sub bracelets but just not up on this yet.
Thanks |

This may be a stupid question, but in looking at several gv watches for sale on the forum and elsewhere, I can't help but notice that some have the model listed as 116400gv on the warranty card and some only show 116400v. Is there a difference? Is one preferable over the other? Thanks in advance!!

Never seen it on a NATO before. I have an orange NATO that could be very cool...especially with the lightning-bolt.

I want to buy the 116400GV too, but I heard a friend of mine saying that it simply isn't worth the money! That sounds untrue to me, because it's a Rolex. But I can agree on the fun-factor, this watch hasn't got a chronometer ect. So I just want to hear it from a owner, do you think it is worth the money? (When you compare with your other watches?) Like to hear from you! Joran |
can you please explain to me why rolex MILGAUSS has two different written ways on the dial. one has the "R" in Rolex alligned with the "S" in oyster and the other one has it alligned with "T".

Rolex has been known to use different dial variations/suppliers for the same references. Even in the same serial number range. Another modern Rolex with a distinct variation is the DSSD.

Mine on a nato. I love the color of the dial. Black isn't totally accurate. I love this watch, and it shows!

I don't typically like Nato straps, but this one looks cool.

Of the 4 modern Milgauss models, the newer blue/green GV is the most expensive.
All lumens glow green. The black GV is slightly cheaper. Both of these GV's have the green crystal sapphire. The green crystal is very beautiful, and adds a green hint to your 'green' collection of watches per-sei. Let's just say is compliments/goes with a green dress shirt very nicely. The 3, 6 and 9 lumens are orange, but glow blue. The others glow green. Personally the most beautiful as you have both worlds, green and blue :) It looks very modern and classic, my personal preference would be the black, and you have to see both next to each other as you will have a preference of one. Then you have the non GV black dial. However this model is discontinued. I would say the main reason is because they have sold the least of all of the four, but if that is not the real reason, then it would have to be a different nonsense reason. I guess by the fact of it's discontinuity, they are now becoming more rare. You can still get one at an AD, IF it they have their last one in stock. The last one is a white dial with orange lumens which all glow blue. I kind of like this one too. I would definitely consider a white dial at some time in the future, but the only reason I haven't got this one is because I already have a GV. Two of the same models... I'm waiting, I found some other white dials which I find much more appealing but the blusey is on top of my wants list. However both of these non GV models do NOT come with a green sapphire crystal, which makes them cheaper. If you are able to hold each one with your hand you will find that the weight and the 904 L steel bracelet is 100% the same, but you need to look at all these models before deciding which will be your first one. I personally find the blue lumens more appealing because in the past I have seen more green lumens in watches, plus my favourite colour is blue anyway. The 1000 Gauss resistance will be a handy feature to have particularly if you work in an area which has machinery. I personally find that feature much more practical than 300 metre water proofness. Good luck. |
This is on my list as well. But way down the Road :)
This Forum is a great source of Information glad I joint it |
First real post, so I hope I'm doing it in the right spot.
I'm closing in on a blue milgauss. One question I have is about the lume: Is it the same color as on all the other recent, Chromalight-lumed watches (white, glows blue)? I assume the greenish color cast I see in photos is coming entirely from the crystal, and not the lume itself, but I just want to be sure. Thanks. |
I believe only the early models with the wide OYSTER PERPETUAL font had blue and green lume. Mine is a 2016 model (latest dial and bracelet) and although they do glow blue and green under a UV flashlight .. but are pure blue in the dark.

The lume is blue. I just got the z blue a week ago. The edges of the crystal shine like an emerald in the right light. Very cool watch!
