Rolex Hands Bubbling
 

Dear Rolex gurus,

My Rolex Explorer 114270 was recently serviced by RSC Manila last month. While cleaning the watch, I noticed that the seconds hand has mild bubbling (not sure if its the right term) on it. Since it began to bother me a little, I called up RSC to inquire if they have forgotten to clean it during the service. :D The lady on the phone said that they don't actually subject the hands to intense cleaning as they are very delicate. Here are my questions:

1. I got an online info that modern Rolex hands are made of white gold rather than steel. If that is true, how come there is a mild bubbling on the seconds hand of my watch?
2. Should I be bothered that the bubbling may extend and start to corrode the rest of the seconds hand and damage the dial in the long run?
3. Will you advise me to replace it with new set of hands (cost is around $150)?

Any similar experience?

I`d take or send the watch back to the RSC and have it fixed if it bothers you that much.

Not sure what's going on, because I can't really tell what it is. Paint, dirt, scratch just not sure. I don't think it is a big issue personally but it's your watch. If it bothers you that much I would recomend returning it to RSC ask them if it was possible if it was damaged when they had it and see what they can do for you.

Looks more like dirt or smudges from oil than bubbling. A good leather touch stick will remove it but if it's scratched then ahev them replaced. Rikki
