Please help me get a specific dial (116500LN)
Hello!
I currently own three Daytonas, two of them have black dials. I would very much like to swap out one of the black dials for one I saw in another forum a couple of days ago. With permission of the photographer, here is the dial that I am looking for. I find it absolutely beautiful. The owner of this watch said that it was originally for a 116519 but fit the 116500LN as well. I think it is an absolutely perfect combination. https://up.picr.de/39003465uh.jpg Does anybody know what this dial is called, or maybe someone has a reference number for me? Also, if anybody has a tip where I could find something like this, I would very grateful. Thanks, Chris |

I don’t know what the part number is, but it calls is “steel and black” on the confirmation Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
That's the one. Thank you for the screenshot!

This is great color. Did the individual that you sourced the image from swap the dial into a SS model?

It's a gorgeous dial, but as Peter has said, it's going to be an expensive uphill struggle to source one, and then you are destined to use non accredited watchmakers (or accredited watchmakers that do not follow Rolex's commandments) for servicing for the life of the watch.
Simplest answer is why not make an offer to buy the one you have already seen. |
Looks great, but will be a headache to service. However if you accept that then It'll be satisfying once complete.

Thank you all for your thoughts and input.
I see the difficulty with the service, but I would want to keep the black dial anyway to be able to put it back in when the watch goes for a service. So basically, I would incur the cost and headache of two dial swaps (non-AD) once every 10 years. I think would be ok with that. In terms of getting the WG version on Oysterflex, I would prefer steel and a metal bracelet. But if all else fails, I would consider getting the WG Daytona. I understand that the dial is going to cost quite a bit, but that aside, the sourcing seems to be the issue. I have searched on the web and so far only found fakes. But the more I look at the picture, the more I like the combination. Help! :D |

NP...bring $40K with you and its yours. WG and a WG bracelet is the better way to go. Frankened Daytona’s telegraph a message. Like those who put the ice blue dial on a 116520. Get the genuine article is my opinion. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...2d4db247.plist Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |

Rappers have purchased timepieces just for the ability to dial swap. So yes, buy another watch and then dial swap. You can always swap back if you desire.

So here we are about 6 months later .... and I have an update...

SUCCESS!
So here we are 9 month later, and I was able to get the new dial mounted today. I am very excited, it's like having a new watch: https://up.picr.de/41232253pj.jpeg https://up.picr.de/41149365gx.jpg https://up.picr.de/41232138fy.jpg https://up.picr.de/41232141me.jpg https://up.picr.de/41232137xa.jpg |
Where did you get the dial, I have also been thinking of this swap for sometime. If I can get the factory dial, the swap is easy for me. Would be great if we could just swap bezel, but I have been told that the WG and ceramic are two different sizes.

It will take a lot of convincing and/or a good relationship with your AD. But it is possible. |
