Hi guys is it possible rethred the case barrel as the threads are worn. If yes what size tape is needed.

It's a 2000 Rolex GMT stainless/ Steel

Thank you.

If I’m thinking of the right part it isn’t re threaded but needs to be extracted with a special tool and a new one inserted. If the thread is stripped or worn it has had it.

Dear Sir

First thank you for your reply.

I should have made it more clear. I have removed the barrel part you mention from from the watch case. It's the barrel end that scrues onto the winder that is worn. Ordered recived two barrel parts that fit into the watch case but one was to small and the other one to large to fit into the watch case. So I was thinking as I don't know the correct size I could maybe I could rethred the watch case so it could fit the new large part I have.

By barrel you mea the case tube? What’s your case #? Its best to buy the right tube rather than trying to resize the threads on the case

There are plenty of options, although you should start with the proper tube for the model you are working on.

If you have some slightly damaged threads in the case, you may be able to make them usable with a Rolex Case Tube Thread Chaser.

If they are completely damaged you can find inserts (Heli-coil type) that require you to over-drill the hole and thread the insert in place.

You can drill the hole out and press-fit in a whole new chunk of metal, then properly drill and thread the plug.

The world is your Oyster.
