Lumenescent Paint

Where can I find the kind of paint used to 're-lume' vintage dials? I have a non watch related project that requires something of this nature. Thanks for the help.

As far as I know most if not all the radioactive paints have been banned, or at the least no longer used due to occupational health and safety issues.

Vintage dials with Radium? I think you will have difficulties finding that stuff.....

I bought a restoration kit from my watch-part-supplier with re-lumination stuff made by Bergeon. Not to expensive but I can't find any mentioning of the content. Only that it is non-radioactive.

The part number is 5680-J-07. It comes in different colors and the J change dependent on which color.

What a rip-off!!!

What do they use now? Super luminova? I'm looking for any kind of paint that is photo reactive and glows in the dark. I figured that someone who refinishes vintage watches might have a lead on this if they re-lume dials.

...unless someone has some radium that I can grind up and put in paint.

That might do the trick! Thanks:thumbsup:

By the way, how well does it work? Brightness, duration, etc.

If it's a non-watch project, practically any hobby shop that deals in model airplanes would have glow in the darkt paints..........

Industrial paint supplies will sell it by the gallon...............
