Montblanc LeGrand Rollerball hacks

The first hack is to use a Cross "Gel" refill instead of a Montblanc refill. It is said that the writing experience from the gel refill is superior to the Montblanc refill.

The second hack is to use and re-use over and over again the standard MontBlanc Legrand refill but refilling the refill by removing the top cap and injecting ink into the refill.

Yes sir! Both are great and work well.

Thank you for the awesome hacks!

Sooo…

Would one like the Cross refills more?

What kind of ink would work in the Montblanc refills? Any chance of leaking with pressure changes?

I don't have answers to Jason's questions but I know another "hack" (with one proviso).

You can save a few $ here in US buying a generic:

The proviso is no broad tip - Steve mentioned how that broad tip makes for a great signatory stroke.

Would recommend Montblanc fineliner (which I put in all my rollerballs). I only see about a $5 savings with the Cross refill. Will have to try and compare.

The MB Fineliner is great.

The MB Rollerball is absolute garbage . As is Schmidt refills. All the German rollerballs suck from my experience.

This was my opinion as well about the MB rollerball, until I realized it just runs out of ink too quickly. If refilled timely, it has worked well (i.e. no skipping).
