SS Bracelet Polishing/Submariner
 

I just bought my second Submariner, the first I sold after 20 years of owning from new (paid $1850 for it in 1989). I remember distinctly when I sent it in for servicing, when the bracelet was polished, it looked new.

I just received my new Sub, and obviously looks awesome. What process/tools can I use at home/buy to restore the bracelet to its original finish. BTW it is a Stainless Steel Submariner.

A really good cloth that will make the watch look brand would be a cape cod cloth. I am going to order a new one online. The company makes really good stuff!:thumbsup: But i don't know of any tools.:rolleyes:

Do you get the single pouch or a tin of 12. Are the reusable?

A word of warning!! You cannot use Cape Cod cloths on a brushed finish like the Sub bracelet!!!!:thumbsdow:thumbsdow
Cape Cod is for high polished (mirror) surfaces.......For brush finish finishing you can use a jewellers brush pen or I just use a Scotchbrite srubbing pad and fine sanding sponge to do it!!!! Just wipe in one direction with the pattern....After that wash with mild soap in warm to hot water and your done....This method will remove light scratches and swirls.....

The proper method is to use a carborundom impregnated silcon wheel on a 2000 to 3500 rpm buffing machine. The method is to move the band back and forth and up and down at the same time to get perfectly straight lines. If you were to go straight down the band the lines would be wavy I know doesn't make sense till you see it in real time. The finish will be factory. Rikki

Just curious as I may look to sell my GMT II, how much did you get out of your old one? PM if you would rather keep it close hold..

I got $3500 for it. It did not have the original dial. I had it replaced one time when it when in for service. Silly me, if I had kept it in its original condition I probably would have got a lot more, maybe. Anyway the new owner is very happy.
