There are other great watchmakers! While I respect the brand, I don’t respect its current leadership (if the translation of TS comments reflects what he meant)
For that reason, I vote #3

1, if and when finances allow .

what he says is irrelevant to me. I'm not that precious that he needs to pander to my ego. Zuckerberg is a complete nob and I'm on FB Insta etc . Wet liberals run Silicon valley and I use a lot of their stuff too..

I need the option of "Ill still continue collecting, as the passion is based on the watches, but Im also not a fan of that kind of attitude from a company's leadership who doesn't need to stoop to low level commentary...haters, so to speak wont need to worry about spending their money on things they don't want!"

(Ok thats long winded, but point remains)

#1 of course… Because why stop now? I’m just one purchase away from achieving VIP Elite Peasant status.

Unfortunately, I can no longer look at a picture of TS without immediately making the association with Peter from Family Guy.

Am I the only one who thinks Peter's chin looks like a pair of misplaced testicles?

#1 it’s not that deep- my real relationship is with my ad anyway.

Also, whatever you may say about TS comments, I think PP as a whole does a lot for the watch game with supporting artists for enamel, engraving and other rare handcrafts. Plus the museum is amazing.

Lastly, I believe in personal experiences and I can say my one time visit to the Salon in Geneva was amazing and I could not have been treated nicer.

Chances are I am in the same camp as Patek ditched my AD as well.

Never say never but I'm not looking for a new one currently as I am mostly drawn to discontinued references and other brands.

Well, Patek is not getting new leadership. Thierry owns the company.

I’m in the same boat. No point making new relationship as not fond of many new pieces. I prefer pre 2010 pieces and Stern Sr. days.
I also think the quality has declined a lot, production over 72,000 pieces and the best pp has come and gone. I would be happy to be proven wrong with the next batch of releases.

Hilarious. Yes, I never got over the Rolex Turn-o-Graph, and could never buy another Rolex since 1958.

#1. The comment is reflective of what I already think of the brand and TS.

I don't feel offended in any way and will continue to buy/support Patek with my last dollar until my last breath.

His comments won't shorten the waitlist for a Cubitus.

I have avoided commenting on this topic thus far, but will leave my view here and move on, as this has been dominating the Patek conversations for longer than I believe is merited.

There have been some diverging views on the actual meaning of what was said by TS, mainly as a consequence of translation inaccuracies. This happens, especially when involving small excerpts of an interview, given in a language, translated to another (german) and then translated back again. For this very reason, I thought it better to abstain on commenting.

Having said that, the golden rule of communication is that a clear understanding of the intended message is the responsibility of the source. The remarks made by TS were, at best, unfortunate; even if his intended meaning wasn't that which was widely propagated, TS should know better.

Notwithstanding, this will not keep me from enjoying Patek as a brand or taint my desire for the references I admire - nor will it change my views of the ones I dislike, based on their own (de)merits. Unfortunate as the whole cubitus saga has proven to be so far, it all seems extremely blown out of proportion (watch included) to me.

I'm confused--why would it affect someone's decision for only 2-3 years? Is that how long us WIS have a memory span?

The crude numbers in this unscientific poll show about 2/3 of people don’t care about the comments and for about 1/3 the TS comments could affect their purchase decisions.

I used the 2-3 year timeframe as a general guess of how long it takes people to forget about untoward comments from an individual and also allowing time for that individual to get some reprieve with more carefully worded statements… or the opposite could happen. We do live in a hypersensitive cancel culture.
