Cubitus Poll

Hi Guys,

When I first saw pictures new Cubitus line, I was really disappointed. However, they are starting to grow on me fast. I do think they will be liked over time. I visited my AD yesterday and showed my interest on the simple green dial model.

Today I woke up and saw some videos and now I'm interested in the Platinum model. I understand that most people don't appreciate them right now.

Out of the three, which one do you really like most? Do you think they will be a success over time? Both the Nautilus and Royal Oak were hated when they first came out. What do you think of the new caliber housed in the platinum model? Please share your thoughts and opinions.

Thank you for your time.

Stupid poll, why not a 4th option: None, they’re all dreadful.

But I guess this brand is like Apple and its disciples

so what exactly is stupid about it? The limited voting options assume that everyone is in awe of the latest (and greatest) Patek creation, which clearly isn't the case. They're for fanboys

Personally I thought there might be other releases than these eyesores, like an update to the sublime 5227G with an exhibition caseback

Honestly I like the design, and watch. Would have been cool if they made some changes to the bracelet though. My biggest drawback and why I will never own one is the size. The watch, much like many Patek’s is so elegant, but almost all their offerings lately are just too large for my personal taste.

I actually like the time only olive green one. The price and size of the watch just make absolutely no sense to me so it would be hard to consider seriously even if offered one. At that price I'd rather get a Royal Oak or just keep saving to go grey for a 5712.

I picked the platinum as I always will for any watch, it being my favorite metal. But I have to agree the reference design is less than optimal. But they will be super popular and impossible to obtain at retail without a strong AD relationship.

If forced to buy one of these I'd go two tone. The dial of the platinum 5822 is a mess and lacks any of the balance of 5712 and I am just not a fan of green dials.

I like the new 5822 movement and like that it’s platinum. Do I love the design…no. I also don’t hate it. I have a 5712 and 5726 and I like them more but I would consider the 5822. Would I consider the 5821’s…no not when I have a few nautiluses. I have been a nautilus fan way before the hype. My first was a 3700 1/aj I bought for 5.5k in 2000. They were not loved watches then. My bet is that while these are not loved now they will be down the road. I need to see one in person before rendering judgement. My gut says…I’ll probably like it even though I prob shouldn’t.

Voting is optional you know. You could just post non of the above without voting and share your thoughts. I Already mentioned that most people don't like this new release. At least this poll encouraged you to post for the first time I guess.

I find the steel one with green dial best looking of the 3, but the design has not really grown on me yet.

I’ll take a Santos and pocket the $35K…

Who am I kidding, I’ll take the Santos and with the $35k run over to David’s and pick up a BLRO and LV.

Let’s see, a SS Rolex Daytona + GMT + Submariner Date + Explorer OR a Patek Cubitus SS time only (derivative design, reused bracelet and round mvmt in large square case). While understanding PP is another level, this value prop is silly when a Nautilus was $25k a few years ago.

Hey Kwt, I voted for the 5822 for the cool look and the technical aspects. I think it looks cool on TS's wrist on the other thread.

However, this is an early perception as I always thought that one can only judge fairly a watch aesthetically by seeing it in the metal.

PS: Don't bother with the haters Kwt, there are people you can discuss with and others you can't as their real aim is somewhere else. When people make so much effort in being negative and partial, there is something else. It's the same scenario at nearly every fair (Basel, W&W). Everyone is entitled to do what he wants with his money, the ones that are not interested and are not willing to respect others during a conversation, can just move on and /ignore.

Yawn, yawn. Sort of comment Apple sheep come out with. The survey does nothing to show whether people like it or not.

I will not be putting in a request for one- though I’d robably never getting one anyway. Of the three I like the shape more color flow of the green/steel best to me of the three offered. Intersecting poll- thanks :-)

If the platinum one was in SS, I think reception would have been different. I think that one is very nice.

3 points re platinum cube.

a) because it’s a newly dev movement with big-date being the center of attention, it should have its own pusher, instead of using a key/tool to set.

2) god damn $100k is steep.

And finally, it needs to be 2mm smaller.

This release from Patek mimics AP CODE line. I expect to see the line mature rapidly in the next few years. Cubilus needs a jubilee bracelet, the chunky Nautilus it’s borrowing doesn’t add up to a cohesive design.
