Help me decide! Tudor BB Monochrome or BB 54?

Which one you pick? If you can tell me why please do! Pics would be great also

I have the BB54 and have spent time with the monochrome.

I would go BB54 if you ever have cravings for a vintage sub. It kills them nicely without any of the associated vintage watch ownership stress. The clasp and bracelet are quite nice. My main issue with it is just the crown...it's quite small.

The bb54 I got primarily for my wife for her to see if she likes watches, etc...but even on my 7.25 inch wrist, it looks totally fine. Very wearable across a variety of wrist sizes.

As for the monochrome, I like it a lot, but for that watch I can't help but feel I'd rather just get a modern sub. The bb54 is pretty much the only way to access vintage styling from rolex/tudor.

Have you considered the BB58? Bigger than the 54, with perfect proportions. My issue with the Monochrome is that it’s a Submariner wannabe. The 58 and 54 are different. I prefer the 58 for the reasons that some 54 lovers think the 54 is nicer. They took away some of the markers, the watch and crown are smaller. The one thing that is an improvement is the bracelet on the 54. Otherwise, I prefer the 58.

As a owner, i think the 54 has amazing proportions, is super comfy and doesn't wear small at all. That would be my choice unless you prefer large watches. If you go for the monochrome, i would get it on the 5 link bracelet - finishing is really nice (almost Rolex level). Good luck

Thinking about trading my 58 on strap for a Monochrome. 6.5" wrist. I enjoy how my 58 flies under the radar but thinking about adding some wrist presence. 5 link all the way. Will try on and see how it fits.

54, more comfortable, less expensive and almost the same as the first Tudor/Rolex Submariner

I just picked up the Burgundy on the new five link bracelet. Same basic watch as the monochrome and it is a very nice watch. I am on the fence with the black watch as I do really like the look and wear but it is too similar to my Submariner ND. Might buy it anyway as my self control is not what it should be when it comes to watches. I have owned all of the 58's before and they are very nice and wearable. I specifically like the blue on the blue suede strap. I have tried on the 54 before and have almost bought it several times. I have a 7.5-7.75 inch wrist but think it looks cool in the retro sense and the riveted bracelet gives it the right look. So, if it is one of the above I would go with the Momocrome on the five link and call it a day.

I'm a big fan of the monochrome Black Bay 41. I guess it's very wrist dependent, but for my 7.5" wrist I love the size. The new case is slimmed down and the 5-link bracelet with t-fit clasp is fantastic. The bracelet alone is a great reason to go with the 41.

Have you tried them on? They wear completely different and I think it's all about what comfort level and style you're looking for. Ive owned a Black Bay and a BB58 and they wore totally different. Tried on the BB54 and it felt tiny in comparison. If you want something smaller, go BB54, if you're looking for a present-day sub alternative, go with the monochrome. Just make sure to get it on the 5 link bracelet.

There is quite a difference in size between the two.

You must first work out if a 37 or a 41mm will be a better fit for you, doesn't sound like much but both will wear differently depending on your wrist size and shape.

It depends on your wrist size. I prefer the BB54 personally but I have not seen the Monochrome in the metal yet, only pics. It looks nice but too much like a Sub.

Monochrome or burgundy on jubilee. Then bb58. Not a 54 fan. My opinion. It’s all about what you prefer!

I like that mono on the 5 link bracelet, a real simple look piece for any occasion.
Also I like the new Coke GMT on rubber bracelet with the T link on the bracelet.
Try them on, all the bracelets fit well, it’s all a matter of personal preference.

Cheers,

If your wrist is under 6.5 inch, like mine, I'd add the BB54. If I didn't already have the BB58, I would have done it myself.

Can't stand the crown of the older BB's
