Are LVMH the only contenders of taking the helm?
What about Cartier owner Richemont? What about Apple? |

Rolex is very generous in supporting many equestrian and sailing efforts.
Personally, leaving F1 and using the beneficial financial support for things like cleaning up Earth's oceans is a much-needed benefit for humans and 2/3rd of this planet's surface area. F1 is just, well, you know.

The funniest thing about all this
Rolex giving this up is basically them saying to LVMH, "good luck, hope it helps you sell more TAG Heuers" - from Bucherer stores, owned by none other, than ROLEX LOL AND those buyers will still ultimately want to buy a Rolex anyway! |

I like this decision.
Formula one as a sport doesn't suit the brand. The majority of the people who watch it are working class / lower middle class. The kind of people who think Tag is a classy brand. That's the wrong audience for Rolex. I know I sound snobby but Rolex should only sponsor the snobbiest sports. (I used to work in branding). |

Apparently, the original contract was $50 million a year. Now F1 wants $150 million a year. If I’m in charge of Rolex, I’m telling F1 to go pound sound. Why would Rolex burn cash like that? They don’t need F1 anyway and now they’re saving $50 million annually on marketing expenses. It’s not as if they’ll be negatively impacted by this.

I am not surprised to see Rolex wave F1 goodbye. Rolex doesn't need more brand recognition and its not like F1 carries any level of prestige that Rolex wants to be associated with.
Not to mention F1 lost its charm to myself and many other post Schumacher/Hakkinen era. Schumi being Schumi to beat Hakkinen in an inferior Ferrari was pure spectacle of driving. Raise your hand hand if you remember the Suzuka overtake in the rain. |

Which one? There have been a few down the years. A couple of Schumacher moves I do remember are crashing into Hill after he fell off the road at Adelaide, and getting all his points for the season deducted after he tried the same thing on Villeneuve at Jerez.

Could just be that the Rolex chiefs are as bored with F1 as some of us are?

I'm glad they stop advertising the F1. The less advertising, the less demand, the more availability. In theory.
