If this is watch you are wearing and enjoying, get it serviced to the extent possible. If you want an original vintage, don’t. IMHO, too many people are fixated on the future value, sacrificing current enjoyment for future (uncertain) gain(?).
Maybe this is blasphemy, but I don’t really care what the value of my watches are when I’m gone. Somebody will get some spectacular watches. Most likely they will sell them for things THEY value. If there is a Rolex Forum in the afterlife, I suspect they are turning in their graves seeing what has happened to their beloved collection.

In simple language … I disagree with his claim!

Do you understand this?

Yeah, sorry to confuse the issue. I guess I’m saying that I agree with whoever is saying that the watch won’t be ruined. Anyway, I just think it’s wise to get the restoration done in away that allows the owner of any watch to hang onto the parts that are replaced. Especially a dial and handset.

I don’t know what you mean by that but you seem like someone who keeps it close to the vest.

The hands didn´t get scratched but the lume on the hands were cracking and particles were in risk to spread to the movement through the date window and thus affecting/damaging the movement.

Then why did you write the following in post #1?

"The aluminum bezel is scratched, the watches' hands are scratched, and the lume on the hand (aluminum) is cracked) New hands: $117 (also accepted)"
