An Unexpected Surprise at the AD Christmas Event
While attending the annual AD Christmas sales event, I was enjoying the lively atmosphere, catching up with fellow watch enthusiasts, and snacking on some cheese and crackers. I finally had the chance to observe my first PM Sky-Dweller at my AD (after only a few years of searching). They had the Rolex Sky-Dweller Ref. 336239—the version with a white dial on an Oysterflex bracelet.
I asked if I could try it on. To my complete shock, the associate didn’t dismiss my request. Instead, they disappeared briefly and returned with the watch. After playing with the new Glidelock clasp (my favorite feature on my current DSSD JC), I noticed it functioned in nearly the same manner but required the watch to be off the wrist to adjust. A small price to pay for the comfort it provides. Naturally, I asked the next question: “Is it for sale?” The AD smiled and said, “Yes, it is—but before you decide, we also have another option: the Rolex Sky-Dweller Ref. 326238 in yellow gold with a champagne dial. You should consider it before making your decision.” I was in shock. After three years with no offers, suddenly having the choice between two beautiful watches felt like a dream come true. After some careful thought, I decided that the white gold Sky-Dweller was the one for me. What are the general thoughts on white gold watches on Oysterflex? Too casual? Should I have explored more, especially now that PM watches are becoming more readily available? For context, I have a 7.75-inch wrist, so larger watches don’t phase me. In fact, they tend to wear like a 40/41 mm on my extra-large wrist. I understand this watch isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, but I’m over the moon to add it as the third piece in my collection. Another deciding factor for me was that the white gold model is new for 2023 and features the Caliber 9002 movement, making it the most current version of the two watches. Sorry for the long post, I just wanted to share my exp and luck. Iso |

Are these really hard to get? I thought they were pretty obtainable. Anyway, it's a beautiful watch, congrats.

Beautiful watch but getting a skydweller on oysterflex is not luck. It's the only watch available for purchase in almost every AD in my city because the demand for it is lower.

Love the WG on Oysterflex. Looks sharp with white face. I had wondered before about adding one and ended up getting the Daytona ghost.
Enjoy your Sky D! |
