A 5513 I am considering

Ya'll will know the seller without a doubt, I trust him no problem, just curious what your opinion on this watch is. I like it, just going back and forth on pulling the trigger. Trying to avoid selling something else to go vintage.

Anyways: 1966 meters 1st 5513

Thanks for your time!

It's confusing what watch you mean as there are some very similar images used for different watches by Jacek/Tropical Watch.

Is it this one advertised as a 1982 watch? It is now showing as sold, but I think it was just over $14,000 when available.

Or is it this one advertised as a 1967 watch in September 2022?

More photos are required to be able to give you any meaningful assessment so a link to the correct watch would be very useful.

Did the seller disclose lume work having been done on the dial?

Looks like a poor job on the tip of the inverted triangle at 12 o'clock.

Nice 5513 but not a fan of reluming the hands to match the dial as this seller likes to do.

It's suspicious that some of the lume plots seem to have a nice waffle texture and other lume plots look so sloppy and different.

When, I was going for Vintage, I always followed Springer's advise!

For myself, I waited until I found a really nice 5512 and pulled the pin. jmho

Relumed Handset
Later crown
Non Rolex Crystal
Later Bracelet
Polished case, well polished IMO but still
Slightly damaged insert.

Overall a nice looking watch but I would wait for a more period correct one

It is a challenge going vintage for me. So many issues with what is right, what is not and what has been changed. Add in the price and it is a formula for disappointment and lost money. Try to sell a vintage piece and see what dealers will tell you and what they will offer and it can take you away from the vintage market very quickly. I would pass on this one at this price. Just me, but I am really not interested in a watch this old for that money. Good luck.

It is not uncommon for the bottom of the triangle to be sloppy. I have a little concern over hasn't been somehow touched up on that and there is some loom degradation on the one o'clock marker. But it is a good looking vintage watch, that has had a little bit of surgery but not much.

I remember when my wife was just a "little bit pregnant." But, that's a whole 'nother story.

I like it. A little renovation here and there happens over time. For your one vintage watch do you want perfect? Then you will be afraid to wear it. I think the crystal is a true dome. I have the same on my 5513. Good product.

Thanks for all the feedback....I've moved on from this one. Reached out to Eric Wind to see if he has anything that isn't listed on his site that might fit with what I am looking for.

Have a 5512 from 66 that has service dial and service bezel from the 70s in it that is much cheaper than anything Jacek has listed that I am considering as an honest and less collectable watch. I'm wanting something to wear. We'll see.

Do you only buy NOS examples? Damaged insert? C'mon, that's a big stretch.

I'd want to see a UV photo of the dial, but I agree with above, relumed hands are an immediate deal-breaker for me. Many examples for sale with all original lume. I would stick to that.
