The answer for me is pass, based on your comments. I have owned and sold the DSSD JC several times and it is a great watch but not one that would work daily for my tastes. I think you have already wasted a year waiting for the AD to deem you worthy of a watch. Now it is one that you do not want any longer. Why would you not go to one of our Trusted Sellers and find the watch you want and negotiate a price that you can live with and pay and get the watch the next day by lunch. By the time you pay the taxes on the AD Submariner you will be in the range of the Trusted Seller watch. It is hard for younger enthusiasts to not get caught up in the AD game and I have been a victim myself. Once I broke out of it I have been much happier and my collection reflects my tastes and desires based on my budget. Get a watch from a Trusted Seller, tell your AD to change your preferences to whatever would be next on your list and happily wait for that allocation while you enjoy your Submariner. Good luck and keep us posted.

Have you tried it on? It's almost 3/4 of an inch thick.

Anyways, fast forward a year. Just got a call to offer the JC and not the sub.

I think it depends where you're planning to wear it.

If it's the bottom of, say, the North Sea or the Baltic then I imagine the Sub will serve you perfectly well.

If you're planning to spend any time on the bed of the Atlantic Ocean then I'd probably opt for the Deepsea.

Don't buy. Not a fan of purchasing watches / other things that you don't want. May scratch the itch short term but you'll eventually get what you want so why waste the time, money, and energy...

No.

Don’t let the AD con you into buying something you don’t want, on a flimsy basis that you might make money on it.

I appreciate all the comments and feedback. I have decided to pass on the watch and tell them I will wait for the sub date. I have tried it on in the past, and it felt big. I have had 44m watches before but I really appreciated the smaller size of the sub as an everyday watch. I agree with the comments that I should not feel pressured by the AD to get a watch that I already told them I was no longer interested in. I just hope this doesn't puch me further down the list for the sub. (I am /was a serious diver and fancied myself as needing a serious dive watch . But the truth is, when I have dived in recent years, it was with my computers and a seiko dive watch that cost be 150 bucks that I have no concerns about getting scratched up. It occurred to me that I would never take my Deepsea into the deepsea and risk scratching it up. )

Why buy something you dont want and has a poor record as an investment
Stick the money in a S&P tracker
