I don't know if I'd say Pepsi is a halo SS piece from Rolex, but having seen one in the flesh pictures do not do the watch justice. The bezel really pops, without being "too much"

I have had many more comments on wearing my GMT than the Daytona.

It's hard to say for certain, but I would guess that Rolex aimed to develop another sought-after model that buyers could invest in.

How did the Pepsi suddenly become a Rolex “Halo” Piece?
Because

The BLRO is a cool watch and one of the hype pieces from Rolex. I like it and own it but based on value it would be one of the first to go if I need funds for a big trade or sell.

BLRO has always been my favorite watch model. No desire whatsoever for a Daytona in my collection.
Collectors complain about the bezel colors on the ceramic BLRO yet go crazy over BLROs with faded aluminum bezels which I find amusing. |

The only problem with the ceramic Pepsi now is that it looks more like a Coke due to its muted blue

I don’t think the king of the crown is the Daytona or the BLRO. The submariner has a strong hold with that position. That or the datejust. As far as hard to get, the SS Daytona is much harder to get from my experience. I could have had the BLRO but went for the BLNR instead.

That's not the proper use of the word "halo" when it comes to manufacturing. Rolex is kinda boring in their designs and don't really have a halo piece. A PP grandmaster chime or a AP skeleton double balance in ceramic would be closer to the proper usage of the term "halo".

Both are beautiful watches but I am slightly toward the symmetry of Daytona plus I have smaller wrist feels much more comfortable. Debating to put up Pepsi for sale but end up pull off the ad

I've felt the same way since the mid-sixties about the Pepsi; first a 1675 and now a 16710 with a ceramic insert.

Not sure about the AD games and all, but I think it's success is pretty logical.
Someone new to watches wants a Rolex. Where do they go first? Black Submariner or DJ. But then they learn about a bi-colored Sub equivalent. "I don't dive, but I do travel." Wow, I get a colorful bezel, second (even third) timezone, choice of two bracelets, and it's well-regarded by all watch enthusiasts. All for essentially the same price as a black Submariner? And wait again, you tell me it's desirable and hard to get? Well, I want it even more now. Sign me up! |

I feel lucky to have mine! My AD committed to getting one for me and then the supply totally dried up. He ultimately came through in 2023! |

I’d take a 5 digit on Oyster to keep it as low key as is possible with a red and blue watch. |
