I can agree with this logic. I’m also noticing there isn’t much difference between some I see selling with heavy wear vs clean/mint (around 2-4K) So part of me just thinks wear it for a while and sell it at a used price down the line if that’s where I’m still at. That is, with one change (due to your PCL comment). Get a scratch brush set and have at those Daytona bracelet PCLs - now you'll be committed! https://www.esslinger.com/metal-scra...eel-and-brass/ And you'll be able to touch-up those other bracelets as they acquire marks you dislike. I have not, but I feel the exact same about the watch you mentioned. In a different threat I just referred to that reference as the best single Rolex ever. But there are other watches (brands) I would take for $25-30K. It's a GREAT watch and I have no issue with grey, paying a premium, but for that money I would look at ALS, AP, and others.

What you are describing is why I don’t buy gray

Been struggling with this decision for over 5 years now. Get model I want but pay exorbitant premium, or go with a different model of similar price point which would be closer to actual retail value.

I prefer the 116 over the 126 myself. But I do get if you paid grey prices for it, it’s a lot. For that price, I’d want a PM piece. Prices won’t be going down much if at all. It’s the most sought after Rolex in the end

Would a white dial speedy do? Wait a little and maybe try that to see if it can work for you?

I have walked into omega so many times with intentions to buy a speedmaster and walked out empty handed every time. It’s an awesome watch, I just don’t love it. I like the 116 a good deal better than any other watch out there in that price range. It’s the only reference I would consider spending a premium for and the fat ceramic bezel is just awesome IMO. AP and Patek just aren’t realistic for my lifestyle and how tough I am on watches. I will baby the Daytona a bit more than the sub and gmt though for sure Really appreciate all the insight. I think I’m just going to swallow the price tag and enjoy it for a while! Thanks again! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I’ve never felt this particular feeling, and I’ve bought almost every watch I’ve owned via grey dealer. I’d personally just wear it unless I didn’t like the watch itself. I wouldn’t get rid of it because I thought I paid too much

I find I’m not wearing my Daytona near as much as my BLRO but, once in a while, I need to strap it on (figuratively speaking). I know I would miss it dearly if I let it go.

If you will lose money, I would just keep it and enjoy it.

I can see where you are coming from OP. In the eyes of Rolex, they feel it is a 15K watch. They make money on it and the AD makes money on it at that price. The white was supposedly over 50K at some point during the craziness. I think at 15K it a nice watch but even then maybe not the best buy for your money.
