Brand new Rolex with scratched crystal

Good time of the day fine gentlemen. Today I picked up my”brand new” 40mm explorer from the AD. Didn’t realize under the store lighting but when i got home i realized if the sunlight hits the crystal from a narrow angle, it looks like it was wiped with a sandpaper or something. Millions of tiny scratches in all directions. Anybody had a similar experience? Is it the dial reflections messing with my mind, greasy finger stains that doesn’t go away by wiping with a cloth or what could be the reason? What to do? Thanks in advance for the opinions.

"Millions" of light reflections from all that white gold and steel.

Lower left side of the dial looks marked but it's impossible to know if the crystal scored from the photos. Don't be afraid of giving it a really good polish with a MF cloth. What looks like a scratch might turn out to be a deposit.

Those are micro-swirls in the varnish on the dial surface. Completely normal on a high gloss dial and can only be seen under certain lighting conditions.

Give it a wash with a little hand soap and slow running water - just make sure the crown is screwed down.

Is it possible the AR coating under the crystal is not perfect. Whatever it is, it’s doubtful that the crystal is scratched. I would bring it back to the AD and ask them about it..

OP. This is your answer above.

Most Rolex black high gloss dials have this to some degree. I've seen better than yours but I've seen worse too. Its quite normal to see under certain conditions.

Whether its acceptable or not is another matter, however.

It looks like it needs a good wash.
