Thanks for that.

If I have an opinion, I'm just as free to share it as anyone else.

I certainly did enjoy each Daytona I bought. But, it just never really stuck. I also tried several of them because you never know what the magic combo could be. I still think it's a great watch, just don't see another one in my future.

At best I'm a fickle watch collector and I don't really care about the monetary component of it, so why not try a bunch of things? I do the same things with cars.

And I have to say, the reason I really love trf is that anyone can post any inane, random thought or minutiae about watches and everyone will get super passionate about it and usually pretty mouthy.

I've had a few Speedys and the Panerai chronos. Definitely liked the Omega fit and legibility. Bought them on straps, probably should have gone with the bracelets though. As they seemed a little top heavy at times. Especially the PAMs.

Someone mentioned up thread the legibility on the 126 is better. That's the last one I had and it was certainly an improvement.

I will also add that the thing I may appreciate the most about my 116500 is the more "Rolex vintage" sizing and wearability. It's actually 38.5mm, right? Basically feels and wears like a 5 digit. The difference is stark when I take it off and put on my 126610. I think the only other modern sports watches that match that wearability would be the OP or Explorer I, but I find the Daytona visually a bit more interesting with the benefit of an added complication.

Nothing wrong with that…find and wear what you love.

The Rolex’s you mentioned are 3 of the best Rolex’s anyway imo…

I am going to venture out on this and most likely because the watch is so pretty in pics, then you get it and it is either small, or hard to read etc. He probably tried a few different variations with the same outcome. It happens to many of us here. Not strange at all Neil.

Same here. Hard to read. But after the honeymoon period I quickly realized how much I miss the date window and how much I can’t stand a dial without a moving center seconds hand. Lost a lot selling two Daytonas in years and made a promise not no get sucked into the hype in the future. For me DJ, Sub and GMT are perfect

Exactly!

I also only kept my AMG GT Roadster for about 4 months because it didn't fit. Gonna try the new coupe though... I'm sure I'll get dog piled for that too!

After 5 Daytonas (in steel, gold, and platinum) I came to the same conclusion. Sadly not the model for me.
