my bad i think i was just looking at the tourb and chrono for the 42.5. 41 is definitely a good size but i just feel like they're limiting their market. AP has a lot of demand for the smaller watches and it's just weird that VC has a smaller option but it's a complete flop. i'd imagine they'd be better off remaking it the right way

Yes. And I want to add it houses the most important chrono movement of the past 75 years, if not in history full stop. And then arguably finished at a higher level than anyone has done it before (although the Geneva Seal 27-70 will be equal or very close)

I think it’s all based on what you see. You could say the same for Lange.

Collectors recognize them, but they don’t have hype really.

I personally like that VC is under the radar for the general population. Their time pieces are relatively obtainable so good thing for collectors if you have the funds and patience. Also, let's be honest, without the Nautilus/Aquanaut PP would not have the massive hype that it does. Without the RO, AP would be in trouble. Just my thoughts. Cheers everyone.

Commonality between the two is that neither spends on marketing. I actually think this is a conscious decision from both manufacturers. Purposely staying under the radar - collector focused.

Which is a little curious given Richemont ownership. Wondering how long that will last.

Agreed, but let's remember that TRF uses ancient software built in the days of newsgroups and 3.5" floppies. i think Steve hit max years ago.

I think VC prides itself on taking care of its existing clients as opposed to finding new ones. Their marketing is not nearly as robust as other brands. But in my experience, their customer service is unparalleled.

I think part of the reason why VC isn't as "sexy" as AP, PP, or Rolex is that it's not an independent brand.

I might only be speaking for myself, but I think both VC and ALS being part of Richemont is a major reason why neither have been able to compete with the other brands even though, in ALS's case, they offer superior movements and decorations vs their PP and AP counterparts.

When it was rumored that LVMH was going to buy AP, many collectors were unhappy about that, including me. That at least partially backs the claim of how brand prestige is at least partially dependent on being an independent watchmaker....That's something VC and ALS can never claim again despite their beautiful timepieces.

This might be a stupid thing to say, but I don't think it matters for more "entry" pieces like Cartier. I own one and don't really care about the Richemont connection. It might actually be a value add to have the backing of a large conglomerate for these pieces. But when it comes to super "high end" pieces above $20-30k, I think that's when people become more picky about the history and romance behind the brand story.
