FS: 1968 Omega Speedmaster Professional 145.022-68 Serviced

Hi,

I'm pleased to offer an Omega Speedmaster Professional 145.022-68

This watch is in very good condition. As a transitional reference, it's not your everyday Speedmaster. This one features a beautiful silky dial and slightly faded bezel that give it a variety of looks in different lights.

CASE: Unpolished case shows wear commensurate with age, some hairline scratches here and there. Hippocampus caseback is clearly defined, with a small hand engraving on the underside of the 10 o'clock lug that appears to read "B2229J." Crown, crystal, and pushers were replaced with genuine Omega parts during service, and the originals are included as well.

DIAL: Excellent condition stepped dial with applied metal logo and long tritium indices. Body color is a deep black with a really nice silky sheen in some lights. Lume is in good condition, and generally appears bright white with a touch of mint green. Hands are in good condition with some minor paint loss at the base of the minute hand, and some slightly smudgy lume on the chronograph hand.

BEZEL: Dot over ninety bezel is in very good condition, with no chipping and a hint of navy/dark grey fade in some lights.

MOVEMENT: Omega calibre 861 was serviced in June 2023 by an Omega trained and supplied watchmaker. Winds smoothly and functions properly.

BRACELET: Omega 1039 with 516 endlinks is in good condition with moderate stretch. Clasp is stamped 3rd quarter of 1969.

ACCESSORIES: Service papers and jpeg of Extract of the Archives showing production December 26th, 1968 and delivery to the USA.

NOTES:

-I live in New Zealand where shipping is challenging, but I am traveling to the US in the beginning of October. I will be able to ship via Fedex fully insured with Parcel Pro in the first week of October.

-Even with a Pahawi opener, I am unable to open the case. This is consistent with other Speedmasters I've had serviced by this watchmaker. I may be able to try again with the aid of a proper case holder/vice once I'm stateside. The movement photo in this listing was taken by me prior to sending the watch in for service last year. The inside of the caseback does indeed feature the important -68 stamp.

Asking $8,650 USD shipped
Wire Only. No returns unless watch is not genuine Omega. Plenty of references.

Any questions please PM or grantweber AT gmail DOT com

Thank you,
-GW
