1675 Gilt - Lume Not Even

Am looking at a gilt 1675. The lume on the cardinal points matches one another but is slightly less warm (perhaps less patinaed, but at a minimum *different*) than the rest of the plots. The difference is subtle enough that I did not notice initially in photos but I can see it in person.

Does that indicate it was relumed at some point? Is there any reason original lume would age differently for the cardinal points than elsewhere?

Welcome to TRF.

Usually old tritium lume ages consistently unless water/moisture has been in the watch.

If it had been re-lumed then the Refinishers usually do all the plots to avoid uneven coloration.

Thanks! That makes sense. So any thoughts on what could result in that difference? It doesn’t seem like water/moisture because the difference isn’t random; it’s specifically that the cardinal plots are different

There can be subtle difference between the aging of lume plots, especially if there has been exposure to moisture. We would need to see good photos to give useful feedback.

Cardinal points: each of the four main points of the compass (north, south, east, and west).

He’s talking about 12, 3, 6, and 9.

Not necessarily, in fact I’d say it could be ok. Photos help if you can share.
I have seen this in both gmt and subs. My 63/4 underline is this exact way.
