This or That - OP (Green Dial) versus Milgauss (Z-Blue)

Simple question with limited context (on purpose). If you had to pick one, which would you choose?

Commentary welcome!

For purposes of the OP (Green Dial), it would be the size that best suits your wrist (e.g., 36mm or 41mm).

What’s this “if I had to pick one”? What universe does this apply to?

Anyway Z Blue without a doubt.

And by the way, it should, according to the ultra experts on here, be either the Z Blue /Air King as I’ve been scolded that those are actually the same watch

I'd go with the OP 36mm since it would fit my wrist better. I do love the Z-Blue tho

Milgauss 10 times out of 10. While green is neat, it is polarizing & stands out way more than the GVZ. It also "goes with" less clothes.

I really like the green OP but I'd pick the Z-Blue for it's quirkiness and color mash up.

Milgauss 100% My first and probably my favorite! So unique and very underrated. Can you imagine the hype and demand if a Sub or Daytona had a green sapphire crystal?!

I’m wearing my green OP41 today, Milgauss never did much for me.

I’m going Milgauss. I am bias though.

OP is still a great one.

Definitely the OP 36. Did you guys know the Milgauss is the least liked Rolex, of all? I have grown to kind of like it, but…..

Yes but the Oyster Perpetual is the first ever Rolex, introduced in 1929 (source KatGirl)

I do think it’s fair to say that the Milgauss has always been a niche model, similarly the YM2. The modern Milgauss had maybe a year of high demand when it first came out, same when the Z-Blue was added, but I think it’s pretty clear that it has sold way less over the years than GMTs or Subs for instance.
I’m surprised it lasted as long as it did.

OP green 36mm for me.

While the Milgauss is “more watch,” I just can’t get over that orange lightning bolt second hand. Aesthetically, I am not a fan.

OP for sure. If Milgauss, it’s gotta be the OG (IMHO).

The Milgauss has always seemed too big and bulky to me.
I would pick the OP now, especially since the current models have a micro adjustment

The Z Blue is an OP on steroids. It's fun, it's cheeky, it's loud, it's rather eccentric. If it's too much, there's an OP for just about everyone, new or used.

The Z Blue fulfils a dual role for me. I have one so I don't need an OP.

I've owned both (still have the OP41).

I did not like the PCL's and thickness of the Milgauss.

This or That - OP (Green Dial) versus Milgauss (Z-Blue)

Has anyone sold-off their Milgauss because it wore too top heavy?

It has a larger wrist presence than its 40mm case size suggests, I just haven’t handled one long enough to know whether it becomes tedious on the wrist with frequent wear.

Do like its quirkiness.

The OP with Green Dial seems to strike that delicate balance of classic looks, while being quirky enough to separate it from your everyday Submariners or GMTs.

That would be me. Purchased a z-blue in 2021 as my very first Rolex and sold it in 2022 thinking it was too heavy. Purchased a modern GMT shortly thereafter and realized it wasn’t heavy at all in comparison, and repurchased it less than a year later (luckily after prices came back down). Love it and don’t see myself parting with it for many years.
