Insurance
Who could I call to insure a Rolex? Stand-alone policy not additional to Home Owners.
Do they require appraisal? I have older one from 2021. Not sure what happened but applied online to JM and they declined. |

JM declined me too. No idea why. I ended up going with Hodinkee insurance aka Chubb. Very easy and no appraisal needed unless watch is over 100k if I’m not mistaken. Also very easy to revise value in case the value of the watch changes. Good luck!

I have USAA. It is a separate policy from my home. Also have one on my wife's wedding ring.

Nice! The only difference in experiences that I had with them was when I said the value of my collection, they requested to have it appraised by a GIA-certified jeweler. Luckily, the woman who makes my wife's jewelry is GIA-approved. It cost me $1.50 (she charged me one bottle of Diet Pepsi ).

JM or Hodinkee via Chubb.
JM gets a little tough if youre a renter. A few friends got declined and that was the common thread among them |

I use JM. If you do not have a receipt you will need an appraisal. I had to do this for an Omega Seamaster from 2001. Went to the store I purchased it at, and it is now insured for the replacement cost - that’s today’s MSRP. For the Rolexes I sent receipts and photos. I’ve had no issues with JM. I also rent.

I used to have JM. I switched to Hodinkee for a variety of reasons. I think it’s a bit more expensive but no needing to mess with appraisals, they cover market increase in value to a certain extent, no deductible, and from what I’ve heard the claim process is smooth.

Another vote for Hodinkee.
Super easy to setup and maintain and/or adjust your policy as needed.

My home, my cars are all insured thru Chubb. When I inquired about my Rolex watches they included it in my home insurance policy . It costs a bit and covered up to 50000 dollars per watch.

I have JM. My son was declined everywhere, I think because he is only 25 and lives in Florida.

Hodinkee has something with Chubb. I have it through my homeowners insurance. I felt that was the most cost effective way.

I insured through my home insurance policy with a rider (Aviva). It cost me 2.2% on the appraised value of my collection.

My wife’s engagement ring and my first 2 Rolexes were insured with JM. The premium on the Rolexes was just under 1% for each watch. Both SS, but one Daytona. Recently added a PM piece and they wanted over 1.5% annually. I added a $500 deductible which brought it down to 1.28% which I can live with for now. For the first 2 watches I just uploaded my receipt (which was written as an appraisal from my AD). For the PM watch I had to use a special app to photograph the watch in different positions, and I had to take the photographs while at my home address since they were geotagged.
I got the feeling JM either wants out of the watch game, or has been dealing with a lot of fraudulent claims as of late. |
