New, unworn 2024 models on Chrono

Hi, how is it possible that new watch models are sold on Chrono that are not even on the official website? It occurs to me that dealers from authorized stores buy them and immediately sell them on Chrono at a 50% markup, instead of them being intended for customers who come to the store. What do you think about it?

I think it’s a tired old conspiracy theory that won’t die.

I have no interest in explaining it nor do I feel slighted by it. You asked what I thought and I told you. This is the internet, plenty of speculative explanations will follow shortly. Buckle up.

I would say that Money is behind it in some fashion. If Rolex could make some money on early release, I would not be surprised.

Thought never occurred to me..... Sorry please sense sarcasm. Also It could be a VIP customer that might sell to grey after buying it too. I have been offered off catalog pieces in the past and didn't buy them.

Some lucky buyer will be able to get their hands on a brand new watch without having to play AD games or wait

In Prague, Rolex salespeople earn around 1,500 dollars a month, I think they wouldn't be able to make a living if they didn't do this.

It would make sense for ADs to sell on the grey market.

What do you mean?
Someone likely bought these and sold them for profit.

The meteorite Daytonas are discontinued so not listed
The GMT is an off book gemset model which I couldn't tell you if it's still a current production unless you see the off book price list.

Here in the UK, both models are not sent to AD's by surprise, even when negotiated in Jan for the yearly stock allocations.

Both models you listed are allocated by the regional Rolex representative to an AD to sell to a pre-approved customer. In other words these models dont just get sent to an AD and the AD then decides to sell to whomever, the person is usually pre-approved by someone at Rolex.

If that is not how it works where you live, I can only assume the AD held the stock back and is selling because they lost their AD status. An AD account is worth far more to a small to medium store than any quick profit on some rare models. You would have to be mental to try and sell new rolex stock as a grey when you are the AD.
There have of course been several examples of this in recent years, sometimes there is a pool of very corrupt sales staff doing it via private emails and tactics.

A dealer at an authorized Rolex dealer on new Submarines can make +-$3300 immediately by selling them immediately on Chrono instead of selling them to me while I'm waiting for them. Example.

It is his 2 month salary in Prague and cheaper countries...

I agree. But would A.D take this risk.Eventually Rolex will find out and the A.D would loose his status. The A.D don’t make a lot of money by selling Rolex since they get very little supplies. They use Rolex to bait customers to buy jewellery. If they loose their status they would end up closing.

My thoughts

The cards may be dated 2024, but no one but Rolex knows when these watches were manufactured.

I've bought 2 BNIB, fully stickered Rolex watches and 1 BNIB stickerless Rolex "grey"

All those watches had been sold to a customer who had then sold them on to the grey dealer.

What has most likely happened is that the watches you have highlighted on Chrono 24 were sold to a VIP who then sold them on for a profit.

Its really not that hard a concept to accept.

When Rolex discontinue it doesn’t mean they are no longer available. They don’t make them any more. They will have these watches in stock and will supply them to A.D.I bought a milgauss from A.D in oct last year though they were discontinued in April.

Yes, but at double MSRP! I wouldn’t call that person lucky.

Indeed, a thought that gets lost on this forum sometimes. :)
