Why doesn’t GS taper their bracelets more?

Curious what people think. I haven’t heard a good reason yet.

GS finishes their bracelets really well. They also have a slight taper, usually 20mm down to 18mm. But the taper isn’t enough, 20mm to 16mm is perfect (as evident by what most of the luxury brands do).

So why doesn’t GS taper their bracelets more? I hate how big they are

No taper, no microadjust, and the world's smallest swing-arm on the clasp all contribute to generally terrible bracelet design. This is why the first thing you have to do when unboxing a GS is to remove the bracelet and put it aside. Find a strap. They are a strap brand.

That’s a little harsh. They taper fine. No one is complaining about no micro adjust on AP or Patek. (It’s just en vogue to do that with GS). The swing arm is a valid complaint. Would spin less if they made it longer.

Bracelet on my SBGT235 is the most comfortable I own. Sized it with one of the two halflinks in 2018 and worn it most days since. Light, thin and with great little clasp that's easy to open but secure.

62gs case watches (e.g. shunbun) seem to have a slightly more tapered bracelet. I'm not sure about actual measurements, but at least the visual impact is there. It looks more elegant.

Many of the watches come with a 19mm lug width (particularly 44gs and elegance models). At least for my average size (17 cm) wrist a bracelet starting at 19mm shouldn't taper much, or it'll look too small. However, I agree that most would look and feel better if increased to 20mm and tapered more.

I don’t have issues with the bracelets. The straps are way too long on the one side.

I think specifically the Evolution 9 series should have tapered bracelets (22 at the lugs to 20 at the clasp is a bit wide).

Totally agree here, that bracelet is so wide it ruins the watch for me. Other culprit here is Chopard alpine eagle , that one is a bust on this metric too worse even

I really don't have an issue with my GS bracelet. What is a head scratcher to me is how well the bracelet on a Seiko Astron tapers as well as the on-the-fly adjustable clasp. Why GS doesn't have either of these is beyond me.
