Crazy Journey

It has been a crazy ride so far. Short version - got the text from the best AD in Pittsburgh yesterday, Henne Jewelers, and traded in my 126610LN for the 126710BLNR Jubilee. This is the second time I got the BLNR. To me, it is the perfect watch.

Long story - the black ceramic bezel drew me into Rolex years ago. At the time only had my old Tag Heuer which I don’t wear, but will always keep as I was married with it.

This is where the forum influence took over.

Got the 114060 because it was clean, and the forum led me to the no dates history. Added some other watches as well including a JLC master control, Omega Speedmaster, and Breitling Avenger. No other brands sang to me like Rolex, so I sold them all and added a datejust white dial to go with my 114060. Didn’t like the white dial, traded it in for the black dial. The forum went nuts over the blue dial, and I began to lust for it as well, so I got the blue dial and traded in my black dial.

The forum then turned my attention to the BLNR. When the BLNR got the jubilee, I thought - that is the perfect watch. It literally combines my sub no date and the blue datejust in my mind. Was very hard to get though. So I got over the years other watches to keep me happy at the time. I had the 114060 twice, the 124060 twice, the 126613LB 3 times and TT CHNR.

Best combo I had during this time was the CHNR/124060/blue datejust. I never completely bonded with the fluted bezel on my wrist. So I traded the datejust back and had another great combo with the bluesy, root beer and no date. The TTs were great, but I feel out of love with them after awhile.

So I decided to go after what I really wanted more than anything. The BLNR on jubilee. It took sometime but was able to get it. At the time I also had only the 124060. Loved that combo, but then felt they were a bit too similar. So I did what I never thought I would do, get a green sub. I loved it! I had the BLNR and 12SubLV.

The entire time, I also really wanted the SS black Daytona. In my opinion the best three watches out there (SubLV, BLNR, black Daytona). As good of a relationship I have with my AD, the Daytona is literally impossible to get. I then wanted an all black option and was so dissatisfied not having the Daytona, I traded my blnr and sub lv back in for only the 126610LN. Basically giving up on my collection goal.

After one year with the 126610LN, which is a milestone for me, I finally got a bit bored. After having all different Rolex mentioned, the one that really got away was the BLNR on jubilee. I was so fortunate that my AD got me the BLNR again and couldn’t be happier!

14 modern Rolex over the years, and down to the BLNR again. I don’t know where I go from here. The forum while it did influence my decisions over the years, it did lead me to the BLNR on jubilee which I am grateful for.

Thanks to all that helped with advice over the years. After all of this, I am going to just enjoy my watch!

Just this one! I think if I give it enough time I will add some type of sub again, no rush. Would buy a SS Black Daytona like right now, but literally zero chance.

Thank you - your beautiful GMT/Jubilee photos has been an inspiration. Still thinking about the green OP as well. Saw one yesterday at my AD, man the green is fantastic.

Wow! Sounds like me, during my Omega Days! I had them all at various times. It was Flip City. I’ve calmed down since then. Congrats! The BLNR suits you well.

How are you guys trading watches to ADs? On the CPO program? I thought it is more for older watches.

This was all pre-CPO, no idea what happens moving forward.

Congrats man! I'm very happy for you. I think me and you were in the same boat for a while with the all black Sub date. Now that I have the BLNR on oyster myself I can admit I love this way 10X more than the black sub.

I also expected myself to be an all black watch person, but I actually love the splash of color. Our watch evolution has lead us to the same place.

I don't know how much you travel but I love referring to other time zones. Someone on my team went to Italy and being able to glance at Italy time to know when to text her updates was very convenient.

Now you're left with the unanswerable question of .... what's next? :)

Exactly - great minds think alike! I was open to either bracelet this time, the jubilee came in first. I can make a case for either. The PCLs look amazing. Every time I see someone at dinner with PCL oyster it stands out. One option of what is next is a datejust 41 smooth and oyster, which would get me the PCLs. Really don’t know what is next.

I actually don’t travel as much as I should, but I do have colleagues in different time zones and the GMT hand will come in handy. Enjoy your BLNR!

I agree I love the PCLs and I'm going to try and buy the jubliee separately so I have basically two watches.

At least you have an idea of where you want to go next watch wise - I'm totally clueless! I feel like I climbed Everest, what else is there?

I am not sure either, but over the last year I only had one watch. This one checks a ton of boxes, so hopefully can wait at least a year until I add another.

I flirted with the idea of a Exp 1 but in person it just didn't sizzle like I wanted. One thing I've learned about myself is I need a watch that reflects the light.

Hence the Pepsi has entered the mindshare.
