Is this Rolex real?? Need to know asap
Got offered this Rolex yesterday pretty cheap compared to how much the guy said it's worth (15k) says he needs the cash could be a genuine request, but if I believed that entirely I wouldn't be here. Can someone here that knows what they're talking about help me out please? All I have are these photos, I'm going to go see it today in person. I have no idea how to tell apart a real from fake, anything I should look out for in particular?

I was looking at that too 🤔 seemed a bit off for a Rolex to say winner like you won it at festival lol

The "Winner" Rolex Daytona were awarded (IDK if they still do this )to the Winner of The Daytona 500. Since the Daytona 500 occurs once a year, these are rather rare and are a somewhat Common Fake Variety.

Incorrect. They were awarded to the Rolex 24 hours at Daytona race winner. Has nothing to do with NASCAR.

He said it was given to the winner of the Daytona 500, a NASCAR race. It wasn't. The 24 hours at Daytona race is not a NASCAR event, therefore his answer was not correct.

How well do you know this guy? Is he the type to be able to afford a $15k+ watch? If yes, would he also randomly offer it to you for a steep discount?
The watch is fake. |

Run away and don't deal with people that make offers that are too good to be true. Watch looks terrible.

Learned as a kid, if it’s to good to be true....
can’t truly authenticate a watch with pictures.

Try not to get sucked in OP. Thing you have to remember is these Rolex watches are a lot of money and in most cases fetch the same if not a lot more than rrp.
What I’m getting at is if you’re considering that Watch you may get duped some time, next time it could be a scammer with pics of a real one. If it’s cheap it’s fake is a good motto to go on with Rolex. If you genuinely want a gold Daytona, do some research and buy from a trusted dealer. If you just want a ‘bargain’ forget it, there’s thousands of people scamming out there with Rolex. Think of them like a currency and it’ll help you to see straight. A lot of modern references are worth more than rrp even. If you think of it as someone selling $15k of gold would they be selling it for even $10k? No. Half the time when I’ve asked people what the price this cheap ‘rolex’ was they come back with some ridiculous figure of a few hundred dollars. |

These things are popping up all over the place....we see quite a few in the UK, particularly on sites like Ebay...I would estimate maybe up to 20% of current Rolex listings on Ebay UK are for fakes...normally quiet easy easy to tell (usual 0% feedback, found in house clearence, dead relative etc) and normally only 2 or 3 images with none of the movement.....but what makes me nervous is the fact of how many bids they receive....scary, you'd think if someone was going to make a major expenditure on a used timepiece, they'd do some online research and of course go into an approved AR outlet to physically see/touch/feel one...its all part of the experience of owning a classic timepiece.
