I know the model, but I had to look it up because I wasn't aware they were producing it again. So it's gold and the price is impressive...

All I can say is congrats. Was it difficult to get?

I got a tip that the watch was available at an AD. I was surprised given it's supposed to be OB exclusive.

Actually, my local Omega Boutique had this watch in inventory for about a year now. They brought it in for a special customer who never showed up to complete the sale.

However given my local OB does not negotiate price on boutique exclusive watches, the $81K USD (+ taxes), was just too much of a stretch for me.

But as they say, what has been seen can't be unseen, and I just couldn't stop thinking about that beautiful timepiece.

As luck would have it, a member of my local watch forum reached out to me to let me know that an Omega Dealer out of Province recently took a 321CG into inventory.

(That in itself raises questions as it was my understanding that the watch was exclusive to boutiques).

No matter.... I reached out to the AD, made an offer which was accepted, and a week later the watch was on my wrist.

I was wondering last week if you’d got one of these, it looks really good. Congratulations

I enquired at my local boutique about one and was told that they only knew of one in the UK!

It was my understating that this watch was boutique exclusive, however I managed to source this one from an AD. An AD that was willing to discount.

I don’t know about where you are, but here in the UK I’ve found that some boutiques are having to accept that some Omega prices are way too high and are struggling to sell some of the expensive models. I didn’t ask about discounts because I doubt a boutique would offer them, but there appears to be very little interest in the onyx dial versions here.

I really like your latest watch, but the price is just too high here for me to even seriously think about getting one. I had a look at the platinum strap version a couple of weeks ago at a boutique in London, but I got the impression that the member of staff who showed me it knew it was so overpriced it wouldn’t sell.

As I’ve said, I really like your latest broad arrow version and I hope you enjoy wearing it, I’m very jealous.

I am a little confused by your post. So these Boutique staff, who accepting their product price is too high, what are they then doing? As a seller if your price is too high surely you discount, but you say that wasn't a possibility.

There is little interest in the Onyx dials as you call them because there are very few of them. The Canopus pricing is high, we have all said that but the OP looks to have done well scouting one at an AD. Omega however didn't make these watches to get mass appeal or sales. they are for genuine Speedmaster enthusiasts who know their onions.

As has been explained in a post above, boutiques tend not to offer any discounts, especially Omega owned boutiques. You might get some free extras with a watch, but it is unlikely to be discounted. This watch is their top of the range speedmaster and they know they are not going to sell many. There will be people who are prepared to pay the asking price and the boutiques are prepared to wait for them to turn up and pay the MRRP, I'm not one of them! The staff in the boutique have very little or probably no say at all in what this model sells for, but they will know how many they have had serious enquiries about and how many they have sold.

I like to think that I am a genuine Speedmaster enthusiast, I'm certainly no expert, but I know a bit about them. One of my favourite watches is my SS cal321, but I enjoy my other Speedmasters as well. I would seriously think about buying one of these if the pricing was more in line with other white gold watches like white gold Daytonas for instance. You have to be more than just an enthusiast who knows their onions to buy this watch, you also have to be in a position to be able to comfortably afford to pay about double the price of a WG Daytona for the Omega equivalent and also be able to accept that you will probably loose quite a bit money if you decide to sell it. I really like this watch and would like to have one in my collection, but I can't justify Omega's MRRP price.

I'm pleased to hear that Trogster has got the watch at a price he is happy with, I wish I could do the same, and I look forward to reading more posts from him about it.
