Deep Sea Blue lust

Picked up a BLNR from my AD about a week ago, and they ordered me a Wolf 27002 winder as a gift (cool bunch of folks.) Got a call that it came in, so I came by to pick it up and they had a DSSD Blue, which I've never seen in person.

Like the Rolex lusting sucker that I am, I tried it on. I think I'm in love. If I bring another one home this quick, my wife will probably accuse me of a mid life crisis (I havent bought a new Porsche yet, so doom on you wifey.) My AD says "Hey, no problemo. Hit us with a deposit and we'll throw it in the safe for you until you say the coast is clear."

The opportunities for mischief that were unlocked when he said this made me dizzy. I had a hot flash of my wifes divorce attorney deposing me "Mike, how many watches did you have reserved for pick up?" Me: Seventeen.

I think Im coming back for this one though.

Same price as AD. Not going to find it for any bargains unless its a few years old and got some wear. Had to get mine new from AD.

Picked mine up about 3 months ago... the Mrs was cool about it, now when I picked up a ceramic bezel Daytona 3 weeks later she was fuming.

I got the Dblue from DMR in Liverpool One - Paid a 20% deposit and then had the watch on my wrist 3 weeks later.

I got the Daytona from Mappin&Webb in Chester, I put my name on the list when I bought my LVC last year and never gave it another thought until I got the call about 2weeks after getting the Dblue. Unfortunately I was not in the position to keep both so the Daytona went about a week later, the thought of a quick profit sealed it really although I'm regretting letting it go now.

I have been pretty lucky when it comes to getting hold of SS models, I've managed to get all of difficult to source references.

In London a couple months back driving to the airport and we stopped at a set of lights. I glanced left and saw a guy standing on the sidewalk holding a camera so his arm was at an angle where the sun was hitting his watch and the blue dial on the deepsea he was wearing was spectacular. I was at 20ft away but that dial popped like nothing else I've seen. This ref is next on the list for me!!

Wow you must have eyes like a bird of prey. I know the dial pops but didn't know it popped that much. They are great watches that's for sure and you wouldn't be disappointed. Sadly in the UK they are like chasing pots of gold at the end of a rainbow.

It's odd how everyone looks at the now. When I bought mine I fell in love with it the minute I saw it, then saw dozens of posts stating it was a monstrosity, now there is a lot of love for it and rightfully so.

The reference deserves a lot of respect in its own right.
The DSSD also requires a good deal of understanding of the watch and why it is the way it is and how it came to be.

The D-blue takes things visually to another level entirely that the early press release pics didn't do justice to at all. It has to be seen in the flesh.
I remember the first time I saw it at the AD and it blew me away right on the spot. My then fiancé was also impressed and she wasn't a WIS in any way or form.

On reflection my now wife is a WIS and I would say it's because of the D-blue

I totally agreed with you. I had it previously and I sold to buy a DaytonaC - I did regret it and sold the DaytonaC with a profit to get back the Deepsea Blue.

I believe, despite the size and thickness, its the most stunning watch Rolex ever made next to the Submariner LV.

I know it's easier to get in the states but if they are offering to do it then take them up on it. As Brandrea says you are just postponing the inevitable. You really won't be disappointed.

If it comes to a divorce you will be able to sell it for more than you paid anyway.

Deep-Blue was the only one she ever gave me explicit "authorization" to pick-up lol

BLNR is nice, but i'd personally flip in a heart beat for the D-Blue.

I'm thinking to flip my BLNR for a Deepsea Blue. I just bought last week a Submariner Hulk and it's stunning but nothing can be compare to D-Blue
