Choice of submariner

I am really torn right now between grabbing a new Submariner HULK which is virtually double msrp. Or a new submariner TT with blue face which is actually in-stock at a AD. I really love both of these watches..

This will be my First rolex so I really want to make sure it's the best choice.. any pros and cons either way?

I personally would never spend any where near that premium. Does the Blusey sing to you?

I dislike the green even at MSRP. Buy the watch you like, not the Internet hype.

Have to agree but in today's age many buy the hype instead of using there own brain to determine the watch they really want to own and wear.

That’s a huge premium. Like the other poster asked, how do you feel about the bluesy? I wouldn’t settle for it simply because that’s what they have in stock. I also wouldn’t pay that premium on a hulk. Is there another model that you like and can get from a trusted seller?

But ultimately if you prefer the Hulk and are willing to pay for it,and you are only choosing between those two options, Hulk all the way

I was never too big on it but the bluesy has certainly grown on me. I originally was after a nice dj but have really gravitated towards the submariner. I figure it will be a nice corner stone in starting a collection too.

The Hulk will be $20k plus tax
While the bluesy is regular retail of $16,600 plus tax
(Cdn dollars)

I bought the bluesy in Vancouver last year and love the watch, I'd highly recommend it over a hulk especially at a lower price.

Although the Hulk is by no means completely under the radar, for me the Bluesy is a little more flashy than the SS counterparts. I'd like a TT model myself, but it would likely be an occasional wearer whereas the SS would be a daily wearer...

I'd also struggle to fathom paying double MSRP if that's what it actually works out to be. It's not quite double in the UK, but there's a hefty mark up.

You said you love both, but if there's one that you truly had your heart set on, get that one. I prefer the Bluesy of the two. Everyone will tell you SS for your first or only watch, but in this case I think the Bluesy works better as an only watch. Green is a tough color for an only watch. That said, if you love it, go for it.

If you really "love" both, then you won't be disappointed either way. See how simple that is?

What's causing you cognitive dissonance is the fact you have to pay almost double for the Hulk, which it ain't even close to being worth. Let's cut to the chase shall we?

TT Blue Sub. Double retail is a little nuts in my opinion for the lv. Good luck

I prefer the Hulk 100% over the LN, but that premium is pretty significant. Best advice I can give you is that if the Hulk is what you truly want and you're considering settling for a black Sub, you'll always still want the Hulk. If you actually want the LN, that's the better deal by far.

EDIT:: Just realized you're talking about the bluesy. I don't like it, so I'd go Hulk, But the same advice above still stands if you replace LN with LB.

If it were me I would choose the Hulk. I traded my 116613LB sub, after wearing for awhile I found it a bit too flashy with the gold/stainless, and got the Hulk and it wears well and looks awesome and very pleased with it.

Where I am at and with the USD to CDN conversion only ones that would work would be the 5 digit Subs. Dam conversions kills us up here

If you love them equally I would advise going for the Bluesy. It's a beautiful watch and not as garish as it sometimes looks in photos. If the LB doesn't make your LV itch go away, grey market prices might be weaker in the coming months or years.

I love them both. I have both. My Blusey came from an AD in November 2018 with a discount. I doubt I'd get one today. I bought my Hulk grey for £1.8K over MSRP. I would have preferred to pay MSRP, even if it took years, but I couldn't get on a list anywhere. I have never regretted it and what I paid seems like a bargain now!

You won't go wrong with either. And since the LB is at an AD, you can have a really good look before you commit.

If you love both equally, I'd go TT.

Double MSRP is madness for any watch. Don't feed that monster.

I wouldn't be buying anything at double MSRP. Of course the best choice is to get the one you like most, but if it's the LV then I'd be waiting and not paying double even if I had the money to burn.

It kind of sounds like to me that you prefer the LV, but reluctant to pull the trigger because of the premium.
Ask yourself this question, do you love the LB as much that you would be willing to pay double retail on this, if that were the case?

For me personally, I would pick the LV but that's because I'm not a big fan of TT watches.

Don't pay over msrp. If you love the bluesy, get it and it might help you get the hulk from your ad. Happy hunting.

it comes down to of you want tt or stainless? that’s a big question to ask yourself..
how about a black sub/sub date? you can scratch that sub itch without having that hefty premium.

ultimately if you can’t get your mind off of the hulk, bite the bullet!

You could buy the TT at the AD and ask to be put on their list for a LV. If you ever get a call from the AD you could make your choice then. Or you could do what I would do and buy a mint 16613 from a trusted seller for a little over 1/2 of the list price of a new one.
