My Dad's Breitling
I have my Dad's Breitling, Navitimer, of course it's not working but it is from the 1950's or early 1960's. On the case it's stamped Breitling, Stainless steel and the number #806. Of course it's a chronograph, the dial is black and it looks like the hands and hour markers at on time might of glowed. I would of asked about it years ago but I just happened upon it today when I was cleaning out a cabinet..........
If anyone has any information I would appreciate your thoughts, comments and input!!! I did Google Breitling-Navitimer and the dial configuration matches the dials from 1954 to 1955 with the AOPA incorporated in the Wing on the dial with the Breitling name on the back of the case with the number #806. The Breitling name does not appear on the dial just the name Navitimer above the bottom sub-dial.......

Does it look like this? Here is my 1966 AOPA 806 Navitimer! I had it serviced at Horological Servies in Pennsylvania. Cheers Jim

Sure Lisa, I can I will set up a photobucket account and upload pictures from my camera to my computer and then post it here in a couple of days.....
Btw. going to the site supplied by azguy...I believe I have the first generation of the Navitimer made in 1952 but the only way to tell for sure is to have someone with a lot of knowledge and take the back off to see which movement it has. I also need to get it cleaned and one of the pushers replaced.....who does this type of work and repair??? Also I need a new strap.......

I've been wanting one of those classic AOPA model. The current AOPA offering uses a swisse Ronda quartz movement in a cheap chinese stainless steel case:(
Definitely worth fixing. OR sell it to me and I'll fix it:) |

DO NOT PUT IT AWAY! Or your son will get it in the same shape you found it. Wear it and keep it wound and moving. Even if it's just once a month. Have it COA'd(cleaned, oiled, adjusted) about every 10 years and don't polish it. I'm not a fan of polishing. It should last a few generations like that.

Sounds like an early 806 AOPA, as the later ones had silver sub-dials.

I went to my rolex Jeweler whose repair department had the correct tool to take the back off of the Navitimer and on the movement it says 'BOW' and Breitling Watch Corp. It's also marked(on the movement...17 jewels Unadjusted Swiss. On the caseback it says Breitling Watch Corp and has the serial number #896885. By looking up on the Breitling Source Forum that serial number corresponds to the year !957.....I know I still need to post pictures but now I have some info.......

In the pictures I posted earlier the first picture of the movement is my photo of the movement in my Dad's watch and the second picture is not mine but one from the gentleman(I apologize but I can't remember his name at the moment) who has written articles on the Breitling Navitimer and the picture was taken off his article posted on The Breitling Source Forum. The last two photos of the dial are from me...so of course they are not very good but you can get the idea.....
I'm sorry if I caused any confusion.....
