Honestly, crapy pic.

BUT even a crapy pic of a Rolex is still a good one.

good camera forum?

Your all right. the pic's are pretty crappy. But the watch sure does look nice. Anyway, anyone know of a good camera forum I can get some advise from?

The avatar stinks too. Here I thought I made the big time and had my own pic under my name. Guess I'll have to work on that tomorrow as well.

On the second link, you will need to click on the review after you go through the first page of the camera.

What kind of camera are you guys using? I stopped at a shop yesterday. A seventeen year-old kid showed me fifty different models, as well as, fifty different camera terms I've never heard of before and confused the hell out of me!

I use a NIKON Coolpix. My model is two years old now, but the newer ones are excellent and anything with at least 4.0 mp should be good enough for some fine macro pictures. I'd recommend a NIKON.

What about the photoshop on your computer? Is that where you shrink the photo size down to fit into the space allowed on TRF or is that done in your camera?

Hmm, I'll throw in my 2 cents here.

The first thing you need to look at is image resolution. The picture you posted would look fine as a 200X200-pixel image, but in its current form as a 700X700, it becomes grainy because the computer doesn't have enough image data so it has to make up something to fill in the spaces.

These days, 4 megapixels is about industry standard when you're buying a camera, which is plenty. If you want to photograph watches, it will be very handy to have a lens with a macro setting as this will help with closeups.

While idiot-proof cameras are generally good, sometimes they can have a mind of their own, and that will be frustrating because the photos won't come out the way you want them to. It is best to get a camera with a manual override function for at least shutter speed and exposure.

Hope this helps!

Ahhhh the LIST, the holy grail of TRF. I'm flatered to even be mentioned in the same sentence
JJ, you may have to open that list up to the top 15. There seems to be an awful lot of folks vying for a spot in there.
