Incoming VC OS DT
Hey gents,
Didn’t want to muck up the OS thread responding to the crew and giving my thoughts., so I’ll dust off my incoming skills. I poured over the OS thread looking at pics and considering a 3 hander or DT. Blue is everyone’s darling, and for good reason. I’ve been on lockdown without a VC dealer nearby so there would be no try ons for fit. Right or wrong, I’m a major veteran of buying sight unseen. I have to say it was TRF member CTroy and his tiny wrist() that really got me started on the DT as an option for me. I discounted both these models as I have a 6.5 bony wrist that struggles with many pieces and has caused me much grief over the years. It fits, it’s too big, it grows on me, sell, at a loss, been there done that....repeatedly. My eyes always lean towards some of the bigger pieces but I know that 38-40 is really my sweet spot. As references, I have the 38 RO chrono and it’s the one for me. 15202 didnt even work for me with the rigid top links. Don’t get me started on the semi quick set date function (low blow?). The other piece that works for me, fit wise, like a masterpiece is my 5712. Spoiler alert, both those pieces are more comfy than the DT. At least after just wearing the VC for a few hours. It’s still so new to me having just arrived. Anyway, how could Troy and his 6.25 pull this off. My 6.5 would make his 6.25 look like a child’s wrist, right lol? He made a comment that the added thickness of the DT may actually cause the thicker watch to fit better than the 3 hander. I think he must be right. I see members here show their 3 hander with 7/7.25 wrists and it still looks big to me at times. I recognize pictures don’t tell all. The issue with these flatter watches, with big dials is they can wear like pucks on the wrist is my experience. I had CB blue and kinda felt that way about it. Even 5167 had that element for me. Both those watches long gone for me. I have also owned 5164 more recently and enjoyed that watch a lot. I preferred it’s fit on me relative to the 5167 as well. This may be a theme here at least for my wrist and preferences. I think I’ve rambled a lot here so I’ll try to get back on point. I watched Mosso’s review on 5164 vs. DT many times. I like the fit of 5164 on me but sometimes felt it was a little large. His video made the DT look even larger. Of course, according to him, every watch fits a 14cm wrist lol. My hunt began. Blue was electric, black looked serious and kind of chameleon like with sunburst at times, sometimes more dark. I left this to chance tbh. Committed to an AD who said Q12021 most likely as a few blues pre sold already and didn’t know when the newer black would come in. About 10 weeks later I got the call for black. I was happy enough with black and now that it’s here, I think I prefer it. Of course, easy to say without ever seeing blue IRL. I have plenty of blue anyways. So my trinity is finally complete with the 3 I’ve mentioned. I had an honorary trinity with ALS warming up the third seat. Initial impressions. It’s large. The rigid first link is there, I was prepared for it. I think it’s def the max i want on the wrist. I stand by the view that the DT works better for a wrist like mine which I would not describe as flat (so jealous of you guys as everyone says they have it but me seemingly) and I have the dreaded wrist bone popping out like nobody’s business. A theory I have is that the added thickness (it’s still under 13, so no deep sea here) lifts that first link higher than the three hander so may help with fit. Hopefully I articulated that correctly. The quick adjust on the transformer like bracelet is cool but doesn’t provide a ton of additional coverage. Need spring or summer to really evaluate that. Certainly great engineering. Now for the rubber issue. Troy mentioned needing a short strap. 6.5s are a disaster with straps. I’m normally on the 2nd or 3rd tightest hole (even the tightest on occasion). The times I abort to a short, there is a laughable amount of tail (not enough) where the strap looks terrible. Maybe 1/2 short, 1/2 regular is the recipe but I’ve never tried. Then there is my middle aged eyes, I was terrified to try the rubber and clasp initial install. VC has a cool video where they show the strap change system that I studied. Despite my poor vision (damn aging) I was able to install the clasp on the rubber without to many tries and a few deep breathes. I was nervous for scratching at the connection point, which is normally cause enough (scratches) for me to sell a piece hahaha. Bottom line, I’m on the 2nd tightest without excess tail so my conclusion is a short wouldn’t work much or any better. If I’m honest the strap didn’t make it taper on my wrist as much as I was hoping so it does flare out closer to the case just like bracelet tbh. I’ve had a daytona OF so I know the drill. I think I can live with it. The leather will likely stay NIB haha. I did put it right back on bracelet for fall/winter. I do think it’s my preferred option of the three. The finishing is great on this as expected. As I stated earlier I rank it third but it’s up against two more expensive heavyweights of my trinity. Importantly, where this wins versus them is it appears more robust! More water resistance (who am I kidding, I will NOT be swimming in it let’s be honest) and the added height and shiny bezel will likely take scratches a bit better than my other 2 in this class kinda like a day date flute. So that’s it, the thread was great here so thanks for all posting their OS models, damn that perpetual Skeleton! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalku |

Looks great on your wrist.
I have the silver dial DT and have picked up the blue rubber and a light brown leather strap and I really enjoy the quick change. On the rubber it has become my daily while the ability to switch to bracelet or leather in a few seconds really keeps the honeymoon alive. At the moment it has squeezed all other “sports“ watches out of my heart |

Looks great on you, my friend! Love the dial layout on this one but I’m still on the fence with my puny wrist (I have the bony wrist bone like you ). I would love to hear other members opinions on the piece for 6.5in and less wrist.
Nice post! |

Definitely worth trying to track down. If your AD cannot locate one, I found the staff at the boutique here incredibly helpful and there seem to be a number of boutiques in the US so hopefully they can get you something remotely.

Congrats!! I have a 3 hander and love it. The dual time is such a spectacular piece, love it in black, makes that little touch of red pop. It does look great on you. Enjoy that Beauty!!...

Congratulations. I appreciate your candor. Especially your opinion that this might be more robust than the 5712 and 5164--both considered PP's sports watches. Valuable insight for someone who is accustomed to wearing a watch in the water.

This one is heavier, thicker, more water resistant, more versatile (3 looks, one watch). It has a lot going for it. Still no hack . I’d be more picky wearing the other two, these one appears more grab and go

Congrats, incredible review and the watch looks good on your wrist! I have small wrists too and went through the same thought process, but still went ahead with the blue DT

Thx for the detailed review and congrats. Much more attractive watch than the blue three hander IMO.

Looks great on your wrist bro, and congrats!
May I ask what is the diameter of this piece and what is the lug-to-lug please? |
