Rolex Stolen from wrist in Barcelona

Walking home in a crowded area on the way back to the W hotel, I had a 116518 stolen off my wrist. I was with my girlfriend. Guy came up behind me as we we stopped at a crosswalk and grabbed my wrist. I had time to punch him, though he didn’t let go of my wrist and when he did he had the watch. I chased him and another guy on foot for three or four blocks and lost them. Champagne dial, black sub dials. Serial #P8637889 unusually small oysterflex band size E and E-0.

Very sorry to hear that, at least you're safe, hope you have an insurance for that watch.

This is one reason that I have never wanted to wear a luxury watch on the trip.

Yeah we were fine, she started chasing after me chasing them and when I heard her that’s really when I stopped. It all happened so quickly, the second guy didn’t do anything. He just stood there then ran.

Its why I do not wear or take expensive stuff to strange places. It's not a big deal until it happens to one of us. Then it is. Glad you are both okay.

Barcelona is not a strange place unless you find LA, NYC, or London strange too where Rolex robberies are not rare. I felt safe in Barcelona a month ago, but decided to travel with an Omega. Sorry to hear that from the OP. What a shame.

The base crime rates don’t tell the story. Barcelona and a few other highly touristed European cities have incredibly skilled groups of watch thieves with an organized process of fencing their bounty. No American city compares in that specific respect, even if several American cities have higher incidence of violent crime.

I’m sorry OP.

I’m also angry. Some POS can’t work, and earn. Street justice would be the ultimate reward.

I wasn’t quite sure what reference this was until I read “subdials”. Glad to hear you at least got a crack on him, I would also fight for mine. People aren’t replaceable but some watches are also not replaceable and worth the scrap.

I wore my Rolex in Barcelona last year and was very aware of my surroundings, I noticed people looking - and I made sure they knew I saw them. As boxer of 15 years though it doesn’t bother me and I’ll continue to wear my nice watches whenever I travel as long as it isn’t an overly dangerous area like South America.

Yeah, you can't box bullets or knives -- life is too precious for that. You could be as aware as you want or think you are and still get got -- it can happen anywhere anytime. In fact, if you're too brave or bold, that when the knives start stabbing and bullets start flying. It's sad.

OP I'm sorry for what happened. It's disgusting and disgraceful. thank goodness you're physically okay. What a violation.
