Tudor Black Bay 58 - Initial impressions
Hey All.
I recently purchased a BB58 from a seller on TRF (paneristinewb - thanks again!) and I'd like to share some of my thoughts on the piece after wearing it for a few days. I only have 2 watches. The other piece I have is a BLNR. I have been in search of something that compliments the BLNR while at the same time not overshadowing it. That being said, some points on the 58: - Case size is perfect at 39mm. I have 6 3/4 inch wrists. - The weight is well proportioned. It feels substantial in your hand and the bracelet, while definitely lighter than the GMT oyster, is equally solid. - The endlinks are solid but don't extend past the lugs. Meaning the lug-to-lug measurement is the true visual length of the watch. - I’ve really warmed up to the faux rivets. They add some depth and character to the bracelet. However, they also add a bit of a "rough" element when putting the bracelet on. Again, I'm comparing this to the BLNR's smoother oyster bracelet. As a side note, it does not feel rough when wearing. - Very comfortable on the wrist. Fits well. - The "Domed" crystal is not really "Domed". It's got a slight curve, but it is more flat than it is domed. I think the "dome" is more referring to how the crystal is raised slightly from the bezel. It does also give you some slight distortion at extreme viewing angles, keeping in line with the vintage plexiglass vibe. But It's nothing like the Hesalite glass you'd see on say a SpeedMaster. Still a nice touch. - I really like the gold gilded look. It's got a slight rose gold tint to it. Most steel sports watches have “silver” color hands and indices, this stands out. - Lume is incredibly bright. - Accuracy of the moment has been + 1 second over the past 24 hours. Overall, the one word I would use to describe this is - Finally. I've finally found a well priced, high-quality dive watch which is less than 40mm in diameter with an in-house movement. I know there are a lot of other really good quality dive pieces out there from other Brands, but whenever I find ones that I like (and that’s often), they always seem to be 42-44mm and out of the question. Anyway, just thought I'd share my thoughts. Picture attached. Thanks for reading! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

It is a tremendous time piece. I am glad they shrunk the size from the original black bay, which i owned and sold. Just to thick and heavy. This one is a perfect size and i am interested in getting one eventually. Literally, the best bang per buck watch out there.

Great write up and interesting to hear you disliked and now like the faux rivets. I can't say I was ever a fan but I guess I have to try it out. Love your 58. Enjoy it!

Thanks guys!
Overall, I'm really enjoying wearing this piece. I think Tudor hit a home run and I'll be interested to see if they use the success and overall positive feedback of the 58 to use this case design for other variations. Though not likely, a GTM using this case would be fantastic. |

Nice time piece!
I enjoy mine. As far as the rivets, I can take them or leave them. But, I don't even notice them at all when wearing so they don't really factor in when deciding on purchasing this watch for me.
