One Nautilus at MSRP - which is best/classic.
I might have a one time only chance to buy MSRP for one nautilus. Golden ticket i know - had to barter and trade. With that in mind and knowing my tastes change and i currently have the AP chrono ss and most of the rolex SS which would u recommend in PP Nautilus.
5711 (green) i know prob even w this golden tix wont be able so lets leave that out. 5712 5726 5740 (a little over the top - mentally even at msrp) 5990 ss 5990 RG I am torn - if im only going to get 1 new nautilus - go big even if uncomfortable like the 5740....or 5990 RG since i dont have anything like it or go w something more likely i would wear more often like a 5726 but maybe kick myself for not going w something epic what would u do w consider what i listed above? thanks in advance. |

I personally would aim for the 5740G. Love the color and the fact that it’s a perpetual calendar. That said, I would gladly take the 5990 RG. So I would jump on the first of the two that is offered.
As for the 5726, very cool watch. A lot less $$$, but if you’re going to go one and done. Go big. |

From what I know, the 5990s are thicker so may not be to your tastes. The first three are pretty classic Nautilus models. If WR is important, the 5712 is only 60m while the 5711 and 5726 are 120m. But since you seem to have the SS sports watch category covered with your ROC and Rolexes (great for daily wear), you could make the jump to PM and go big with the 5990/1R or 5980/1R (go big or go home mentality since this is your only shot).

I would go for the 5712 or 5726, assuming you're talking about steel. Money aside, these watches are already delicate and gold doesn't help if it's a watch you want to wear often. I absolutely love the slim profile of the Nautilus and, for that reason, would struggle to recommend the 5990 in a one-Nautilus collection.

Great points by all - i appreciate it and reading all of this is why it has been tricky for me.
in 3 comments every watch was recommended except the 5990 ss - which was last on my list too. SO one down - still thinking .....SS everyday or some big dog RG or silent huge dog 5740 hummm |

My favorite is 5711. So I would go 5711/1a or 5711/1r

i wish i could try the 5712 vs 5726 but w.o trying it - but 5712 seems to off balanced on the dial and too delicate vs 5726 - also the AC is more useful to me than power reserve

Depends on your "goals."
Best Nautilus? No question to me 5740. Best stainless....I like 5726 and 5712. It's super hard to decide between those 2 if I had to pick just one. Probably the 5712 but the dial layout on the 5726 is classic and all Patek. All the talk any 5726 wearing thick is silly... It wears well and has thinner profile than Rolex sports watches. Not an issue even with smaller wrists like mine. I really do like the 5712 for the 240 mini rotor movement though.... But I don't wear the watch to look at the movement most of the time.... Bang for your buck, the 5726 and 5712.... But the 5740 to me is the real king. Best wishes with your golden ticket. |

5740. NO contest. Not too flashy but the weight of wg is exceptional, truly to be appreciated in person than photos. More practical than an all RG on bracelet. Here it is next to my jumbo, which I would trade in a second for.

My vote is for the 5712. It’s such a Patek nautilus. By that I mean, they took the Genta design and put a Patek movement with complications in roughly the same case as the 5711. The size difference is so small between the 5711 and 5712.
Don’t let the asymmetry bother you, when it’s on the wrist, all you see is the hour and minute hand, just like the original 3700. If you look closer, you can see the power reserve and running seconds. Look even closer and you get the date and a moon phase. I understand the 5726 love, but it wasn’t for me. Too thick and boxey compared to the sleekness of the 5711/5712. I wanted a 5711, but now they are discontinued, 5712 is my choice. |

I really enjoy the wisdom of this forum. 5712 was never really on my radar until I got here. And anyone who has handled one knows it really is special. You won't regret the 5712. I would probably regret the 5740 but that's only because I would miss that much cash. |

Man , if I could get a 5740 at retail I would be over the moon - don’t miss it ! It’s only money, ha! If not that one 5990 R or 5711 R. If we need to buy on a budget then 5712 it is .
Neat to have this problem, wish you the best ! What fun ! james in San Antonio. |

5711 green. Got to try
5740 as an incredible opportunity or 5712 as a daily wear and enjoyment. 5990 in theory is wonderful but it is thick for a nautilus and though the complications are perfect the legibility of the subdials is poor and as a result, not practical imho. A word of advice, if you end up with a 5712 at MSRP with the intent not to sell, I would strongly consider wearing the heck out of it as a daily.

Wow, why can’t I have these problems in decision making? Lol
Many congrats, you are basically being offered 3 times your investment immediately in some choices. Go 5740 or 5990R, either choice is a no brainer IMO. |

They are all scratch magnets but I chose the 5712/1A. It is Slim, Atypical Dial Layout, Love Micro Rotor, Has some complications: MP, PR
-5990 thick and dial configuration is not pleasing -5726 not a fan of ACs and thick -5740 too expensive and dial layout looks like mickey mouse -5990R will scratch if you look at it the wrong way so easy pass

Wanted to love the 5740 but don't think the Nautilus case and the 240 Q powered 3-subdial PC work that well together. Still better than 5726 and the 5990s. |

I appreciate all the feed back - and love the advice. in return i should tell you that i wish i had some special golden ticket info to share but it is unique to me. A good friend of mine of over 30 years (high school days) i did him a big favor and he happened to be in-laws with PP AD person of note so he is calling in a favor - which im not sure what that is going to result in which is why i should come up w a list. I Dont want to say "oh can i get the 5711 in green....and he said NO and that is it."
Thank you again |

What exactly does "golden ticket" mean?
And what did you have to trade for it? |
