Onyx dial - problem

Hi all,
I recently came access below Day-Date 36, ref: 18238 from end 80s/early 90s. Was going to buy it off the old gentleman who bought it brand new, but upon inspection I noticed that top layer around the edge at 4 o’clock, centre post hole and date window is peeling or I should say it has this milky look. What would you do, price is very reasonable, so would you buy it and 1. live with it, 2. would you send it to RSC and go through their special dial exchange only program when old “damged” Onyx (T SWISS t) can be switch with new Onyx (SWISS MADE), 3. Do not buy it or 4. other suggestions?

PS1: Sorry for bad pic, this is from old gentleman, I forgot to take my pictures when I examined the watch

PS2: I noticed that some collectors even of “high rank” mr johnson167 on IG like to call his damaged DJ Onyx dial - Obsidian stone even though peeling alway accrues at the same spots like his - edges, centre post, date - wherever that is a hole in the stone.

Thanks!

Based on the photo, I can't see any dial defects, just a very blurry image.

If this is a vision test, I hope I passed!

What’s this “reasonable” price?

Can’t conclude anything - this is like an old 30s movie actress who’d have Vaseline smeared on the lens for her close-up - can the old gent take another photo ?

As to your question, if the price reflects any imperfections and you ultimately buy, I’d definitely say try living with it first - You’ll know quickly whether it bothers you or not.

Of course, better pics are necessary first - You have the attention of people above who know these.

Also,
The bracelet looks like it may be pretty ‘stretched,’ but it could be a photo artifact.
These TST onyx with the shallower window chamfers may be the least common, I’d at least hesitate to swap it at RSC.
