16710 Japanese papers and full set contents legit?
I’ve got the opportunity to buy a 16710 full set F serial.
I’m not familiar with the contents of a Japanese full set, could anyone confirm if these are legit? Notes: - the blacking out of details is by me - it comes with a hang tag that also indicates the original bezel colour is 16710LN - in the third photo there’s a sealed envelope. The seller says it’s unopened, does anyone know what’s in it? - is the printed (instead of punched) warranty paper legit for Japan?

If someone's actually gone through that much effort to make a fake, they've probably spent more money creating the fake than the watch is worth.

Everything looks good and in order.
The watch was purchased from a Rolex AD called Nakaishu in Totori prefecture. They are no longer a Rolex AD but they are still in business selling bridal goods and watches. You can find them at www.nakaishu.com The green envelope in the last photo is from Rolex Japan HQ in Marunouchi Tokyo which prints the details of the purchaser onto the warranty certificate (hand writing is not good enough for the Japanese) and then it is sent to the purchaser. |

All I can say the Green envelope must have been opened because I doubt that anything official, especially Japanese, would have the address upside down.

As I always tell my friends who just started collecting expensive timepieces:
"You have to first buy into the seller, then you can purchase the watch." Based on that, you should know the more important question. /

Due to uncertainties such as this I decided recently that the only way I will be truly at peace is to purchase a new GMT Master II directly from an AD.
Back in the early 90s my first Rolex was a GMT Master II - my father had the exact same model. We both traded up to 16613s but looking back I really wish I would have kept my GMT. After all the searching and wondering about paperwork, non-Rolex parts, etc. I just finally decided that a new one delivered to me at an AD is the only way to go for me. |
