No watch should be worn with a tuxedo; social etiquette promotes that it's insulting to your host/hostess, as you shouldn't be concerned with time during the event.

I agree...this point has been discussed many many and many times in the main forum when people bring up wearing the Sub to a formal function (i.e. wedding)...but each to their own (including fictional James Bond)

Yes you are technically correct regarding the Tux. That being said, I like to know what time it is. If I'm wearing a Tux my watch hides under my cuff anyway, nobody sees it. My overall thought was regarding how some people think a sports watch can be worn with a suit, ect.

Carl...the watch is actually 35mm...and I have a 6.5-in wrist...
but my collection goes from 35 to 44mm..and I am thinking about a 47mm

the 35-40 are good sizes for dressing up...

Well, perhaps we can conclude that size doesn't matter. Perhaps it is the rather thin bezel which makes it look bigger?

Can't but think of this watch from time to time... If the dollar gets cheaper, I might consider buying one from the states.

I am in need of a dressier watch (although I rarely attend formal meetings and such, I really like to wear one).
