Explorer 1 sizing 2.0

Ok guys...in a previous thread I asked for opinions as to how my 39mm explorer looked on my wrist. It was a zulu and most agreed it looked small as the large rings through the balance off. This is a Marine Nationale strap and the next option. How does the size look now...any better?

7.5 wrist for reference

I think its defeintly a big improvement BUT I've got a gray with black strip inbound as i don't like this color combo too much.

Indeed improved. I think the grey strap will look even better.

These straps are crazy comfortable. The reason its off the bracelet is that i need a comfortable daily driver that won't grind on my mac book all day.

Try a darker strap. Gray, black, or something else a little subdued, and ideally something that blends with the watch better.

By the way, because of your fairly large wrist size, I think something like a speedmaster or sea-dweller/deep-sea would look better on you.

I’m sure Exp1 size is ok for you. The problem is wearing it on a strap which makes it look too small.

I have a BB41 which is a little big for my wrist if worn on bracelet. However on a strap it feels much better and wears smaller.

But in the end it’s a matter of personal preference. If you like your Exp1 on a strap, good for you but for me it does look too small. I could easily see a SD43 on your wrist!

I think it looks much better - the other strap wasn't great and did throw off proportions. Size is fine.

Just wondering - I measure my wrist at 7 1/4" and Explorer I looks much different on my wrist. At first I thought this is either a 36mm or your wrist is much bigger than 7 1/2. Or I've been measuring wrong all along.

I see it suits you.
Could you put a picture with the oyster bracelet?

I can’t put it on the bracelet as I’ll destroy the lugs in the process. I’ve got the spring bar tweezer tool on order.

I totally f’ed up a Tudor earlier this year doing just that. Was so disgusted with myself I sold it at a loss

Much better!
Just because you can wear a big watch doesn’t mean you have to. I also have a flat 7.5” wrist and can wear a 47mm Panerai, IWC Big Pilot, etc. but I’m going to get a 36mm DD or a 39mm Journe next.
Today I’m rocking a 38mm asymmetric case chrono. There’s something to be said for a nice watch that flys under the radar.

Ok...got it back on the bracelet damage free with the help of a judicious amount of masking tape and my newly acquired spring bar tool.

What do you think

Looks much better on the bracelet but your wrist looks a lot bigger than 7.5 inches.

I think it looks great. I actually like the green MN and the grey black will look good too. The explorer isn’t supposed to be a huge watch; I have a 7.25” wrist and have no concerns with size wearing my 1016.

Looks nice but I think a larger size watch would be good on your wrist too.

Looks better on the bracelet but if you fancy a strap how about Everest or Rubber B silicon straps in grey or black?

First, it is not an Explorer 1, it is an Explorer.

Second, I think it looks small on your wrist. Just my opinion.

But wear it in good health.

Well Rolex has previously called it an Explorer I, albeit with a Roman "I" not an Arabic "1". We've been through this many times.
