Independent Watchmaker References..

This is an area to post a recommendation of yours for an independent watchmaker in your area..

If you use a good watchmaker, or have had a good experience and feel that this can aid the members in their search for quality work on their time-piece, this is the place to post it..

The Rolex Forum does not endorse any watchmaker, nor do we guarantee their work in any manner or form..

To help the members find this resource in their area, place the watchmakers location prominately at the top..

Watch and Bracelet Restoration

While not strictly a local watchmaker, many folks are looking for restoration of their old stretched and damaged bracelets..

Bob Ridley, for complete Rolex restoration:
http://www.watchmakers.com/index.html

Phillip Ridley for both Rolex and Omega service and repairs
https://ridleywatchmakers.com/

Rik Deitel, CW21 Watchmaker
http://timecareinc.com/credentials.html

Rolliworks for bracelet repairs and watch service
https://www.rolliworks.com/

Several members give this place high marks for bracelet work:

For dial relume and restoration:

Small, clean store with a large variety of high-end watches. Serviced my 1655 without a hitch. Orbita roadshow stops by every now and then.

it seems that "djbwatches" are also The Watch Empire.

http://www.thewatchempire.com

because they have the same address:

607 S. Hill St. Suite # 508

Dredging up a post in this thread from 2008 (#3, below), I just called Dan at Jackson Square and had a pleasant conversation. I'll be bringing him my 16710 and a Cartier Tank for service.

Just bringing more awareness to this post and a peninsula / Bay Area watchmaker that may be an alternative to RSC.

Anybody in the UK...there's only really two to go to.

Tylden Reed and Chris Heal.

Tylden repaired and renovated my dead Oyster Date and is probably one of the only guys who can now service the watch (he was recommended to me by Rolex Bexley).
http://www.tyldenreed.co.uk/

Chris, I have not used yet but he is highly regarded and has always been professional, polite and prompt in our correspondence.

Great resource, thanks guys.

Is there any update in the UK or London recommendations in the last few years?
Looking to get a vintage datejust repaired, and don't want any "refurbishments" done by RSC at the same time.
(Would also rather not pay RSC costs if possible.)

In the greater Chicago area I highly recommend The Time Center in Westchester, IL. Laiq is extremely competent at diagnosing problems and fixes at an affordable rate with a quick turn around. He has done several repairs for me and is a very knowledgeable watch guy!

Based on others recommendations on this forum (and dissatisfaction with Rolex Dallas SC work), I had Rik Dietel of http://TimeCareInc.Com work on my Rolex DateJust midsize watches. He is Rolex Certified and Rolex Repair/Parts Authorized. Based in Seminole Florida, he is readily available to communicate with you for your Rolex servicing needs. His work on my watches was superb and his polishing/detailing skills was far superior to what I got at RSC. His service prices were half of what was charged to me at RSC. Finally, I never had more than a 4 day wait for my watches to be sent back to me!! Compare that to RSC! Rik comes highly recommended by me!

do not use Denis Carignan in New Hampshire

Two Rolex's sent to him.

Mine was serviced apparently well, but less than a year later it would stop every 5-7 days needing rewinding. Denis took it back - no cost - to fix, and failed to find anything wrong. I finally bought some tools took it apart thought the rotor axle looked dry. A spot of grease and it has been fine for three or more months.

My friend's Sub (1680?) was thoroughly fitted out with new parts to the tune of $1,100+. It didn't keep good time, and leaked. Sent back and still no improvement.

He talks a good story and seems a nice guy, but...

Seattle Area

Hi all. A newbie here....but trying to help. You might want to think about Tom Nesbit, Nesbit's Watch Service if in the Seattle area. He did a great job of breathing life back into an old NQS Datejust of mine - just like new and real parts! His prices are reasonable, and he is also the local authorized Omega Man.

I live in Manhattan and need help with two watches from the '60s and '70s. Can you give me his specific info? It is hard for me to know whom to trust, but if you vouch for him, that would ease my mind. Perhaps send me a PM. Thank you.

If you are in California & don't want to ship to RSC in Dallas.....there's a licensed indie RSC in San Francisco....all they work on are Rolex...they'll work on vintage, they can get parts etc. from Rolex Dallas & they are terrific....plus they are nice people, very helpful. They have renovated three of my old Rolexes & did a wonderful job!
