Icon5 Typical AD Professional model pricing?

How much discounts are greys getting on most gold models from ads? How much should I aim for in this market for a gold model discount wise? I hear you should aim for 20-25% off msrp, unsure if this still holds true. I can’t imagine how much ADs are getting watches for when I see greys offering some gold models for 30%.

I feel like greys are still middle, I’d assume going direct to the right AD would be ideal.
If anyone has a solid connect please send me a PM!

In general ADs are getting wholesale prices that are mid-high 30’s% below MSRP.

What a grey dealer gets as a discount from an AD is irrelevant since they are buying multiple watches over the long term.

For a single PM watch you could get 25%-ish discount at the AD. On a great day and on a model that’s hung around too long, perhaps mid 30’s%.

If you have no history at an AD I don't think you can get 20%, depending on the model.

Buying grey is probably your cheapest option.

Not going to happen with a WG or YG Sub unless you have a big $$ spending history at the AD. I was offered a 10% discount on a YG Sub at my closest AD. Decided to go the TS route and got 25% off, but this was summer 2017 before the current situation at hand.

You’re prolly right.
As I recall it was back in 2016 when I was getting those deals on YG.

But as recently as 2 months ago one AD was doing such discounting 20% on a platinum Daytona.

Platinum Daytona should fetch a better discount than a gold Submariner.
75K msrp is a much higher price point, folks who buy Platinum are a very small niche compared to folks who buy Gold.

Platinum grey prices have gone up almost 10k in one year. My brother got his new stickered last year for 55k. Greys now want 65

zero discount at 5 different UK AD locations (both chains, and one location dealers). I tried. Full retail for that one... here at least.

However a VAT return still makes it extremely competitive so i doubt locals are the target customer for that

In our area discounts on PM are becoming harder to get. SS forget about it.

I’m personally in favor of ADs offering little or no discounts.

i agree. The price is fair....as long as everyone also pays it. No one wants to overpay so stopping discounts is the best way forward. Ideally

I most often price shop when its a watch everyone else can get at a discount. I would rather not. Plus when you don't have to price shop, value retention is higher so you are not really paying more anyway.

a good place to start is trying to get the AD to match the grey price which is usually around 20%

depends on what watch. some PM you are not getting a discount at all as a one off purchase customer.

If you're a USA citizen and planning a visit to Europe, you could plan ahead with a friendly dealer for ~25% discount, then you also get VAT back (~15%).

You wont get the same discounts Grey's get because you're not buying 50 watches at one go... but even without a prior relationship I think 10%-15% off on most PM models isn't out of the ordinary

I have an excellent relationship with my AD, pick up between 4-6 watches per year.

Waiting on a PP 5740 and just got the Submariner SABR

Only got 10% my most recent SKYd YG

And barely

PT discounts are disappearing as supply is disappearing as well. DD40 depending on dial is getting very hard to find at AD.

Depending on the PM watch about 20% is standard for a face to face purchase with a history at the AD. Go Grey and save significantly.
