Some advice please!
Help me out here. I have been wearing Rolexes for about 20 years. I have always purchased them through authorized dealers. I was just on a web site that sells Rolexes, has an excellent rating and gives customers the opportunity to authenticate their purchases. Moreover, they accept returns without a restocking penalty. My question is this: Has anyone purchased his or her watch on any of these sites? If so, can you make a recommendation; it would be most appreciated. Conversely, if you've had a negative experience, can you talk about that too? Thanks much!

Welcome Taffi
You might get more responses to this in the "WatchOut!!!" section of the forum. I have purchased a number of watches off the internet. I think that you need to be very careful when buying off the internet. One thing is to confirm 100% in your own mind the satisfactory reputation/sales history of the seller. Secondly, the seller needs to have a bricks and mortar address so that they are actually a business. You also need to establish telephone contact, and ensure that they only sell genuine watches. This is just the tip of the iceberg. I haven't bought watches from any online stores in the USA so I can't really recommend any personally. Good Luck

Thanks, Steve. I've reconsidered purchasing a Rolex off of the internet since I don't know what I'd be getting. I'd rather just do as I've always done, and contact an AD. Also, if a watch is purchased from the internet, how can it be insured? Serial numbers are associated with a particular AD, are they not?

Welcome to TRF. It might help for you to share which place(s) you you are considering. While I have no personal experience, other's have had positive purchase with Alan Furman and others.

Welcome to TRF! I would use some of the TRF members who sell here before an online store. Also, near Philadelphia(about 1.5 hrs. away) there's Black Angus with a lot of grey market dealers who've been selling there for at least a decade and in some cases two decades. If you want some directions/contact info, PM me.
good luck! best, dan |
