SD43 for Kermit

Fell in love with a Kermit I saw in a store. Full set, 2005 Rolex 16610LV "Kermit" with box papers booklets and even the little anchor accessory. Never polished. Impeccable bezel insert, all extensions and links, single owner.

Deal: I could get Kermit by trading my 2021 SD43 + $2,000.

Thoughts?

Personally, I’d stick with the SD. Updated movement, ceramic bezel….just more watch for the $ IMHO. That being said, go with what you like.

True. I do have all the above things in my 2021 126610LN Sub. The SD43 is starting to feel quite heavy and the Kermit's size was refreshing.

These are two crucial pieces of information that suggest you'd be happiest trading the SD43. The question is: Do you trade it towards a Kermit, or something else?

I understand the collectibility of the LN, but just find that color green aesthetically unpleasing, to be honest. If I were trading for a five-digit, I'd look for the most impeccable 14060, as it is truly the original.

Now, all of that said, I might also be on the lookout for a mint (even unworn) SD4k. Has many of your Sub's features without the SD43's size. However I would anticipate putting up a minimum of $5,000 additional for a BNIB version (based on C24...).

I would keep the SD and let go of the 126610LN. This way you have the amazing 5 digits sub in the exclusivity of the green bezel and an amazing SD anniversary version.
The best of two worlds.

“So happy, I can’t stop looking at my wrist”.

“””“It’s pretty weird. I never really consider it until I put it on. The watch has a magical ability to sit even and balanced on my wrist (7.25”). It is incredibly gorgeous and the thickness is there but you immediately love it. It’s not excessive. You start thinking why you even ever wanted a Sub: sea-dweller is the real deal.
It’s one of those things i read on forums without truly understanding the cult around the SD and now i do understand.””””

Now 4 months later, after all that talk, it’s too heavy.

Just admit, you enjoy the chase more than the watch.

Yeah the chase is fun. I get to learn and experiment with different watches and have fun, you are right.

I did the same. Moved my Deepsea for a 5 digit Kermit. The wearability is much improved for me. My Deepsea was my only modern Rolex and I wanted to love it but, I didn’t in the long run. I removed the dive extension and got the size just right. I have a 7.5 “ wrist so it never looked out of place. The honeymoon did last for a while but, I found the nostalgia of the 5 digit neo-vintage and also matte dial vintage just pulled me back.

Could you not have bought a James Cameron as a replacement for the sd43? And you get the same watch with a different feel and look?

But the JC is a completely different watch to anything else in the Rolex lineup. It's incomparable

I'm in the same position my friend. I have the 126610ln and the 126600 and they're basically the same watch with different sizes (and a fully marked bezel). I'm looking to trade the SD43 for a James Cameron so at least it feels like I'm putting a different watch on at the weekends . . . if anyone's interested

If you fell in love with it, and that’s what you really really want… Do it, it’s not about the cost.

If it’s only for speculation, I wouldn’t because then you won’t have one to actually wear.

As a bona-fide 5-digit fan I say 5-digit all the things. I like the SD43, but it's no Kermit.

I used to be a 5 digit only collector and recently switched to the new line and collection for the improved features/movement/ceramic/etc...

Yes, considering i do get the tech from my new sub, I do miss the vibe of the neo-vintage stuff... and that green is just "oh-my!"

Yep. I think the LV is a better compliment to the 12LN than the SD43. IMO the 12LN and SD43 are just two different sizes of the same watch.

100% !! I'm just realising it now after owning both for a year and discovering the Sub gets ALL the wrist time. I'm looking to trade the SD43 for a James Cameron. At least it'll feel like a different watch on the weekends

Since you have the 126LN and the SD43 is starting to feel heavy on your wrist, I would do it. Provided you absolutely love the 16610LV

As someone who's owned a 16610LV, and currently owns an SD43 (although, not for much longer), I'd say buy the LV.

The ceramic bezel is great on the SD43, but the latest movement may cause you problems (like mine has), plus the LV is just a stone-cold classic.

IMO. For wearability the Kermit

IMO.For collectability the Kermit. It’s already a collectible.

I would chose the Kermit.

If you already have a 6 digit sub, and teh SD is not as comfortable as the Kermit, I wold definitely get the OG Kermit

I think opportunities play a big part on this hobby, so considering the reasons above I'd say go ahead and do it as soon as you can.

Don’t “upgrade” backward.

You’re paying a big premium just for some green pigments.

New to Rolex? There is modern, vintage and classic. The 16610lv is as classic as it gets, with 5 dig attributes and a maxi dial. Might seem backwards to you, but most of the new members here seem to only like the ceramic, modern, popular watches.

This. The shape and features of 5-digit reference AND maxi dial AND the smaller more slender style AND that green (i don’t like the ceramic green) just made me fall in love!!
