US Open Champion Jordan Spieth sporting a 42mm Explorer 2
Well, the Rolex Community gets a nice win today on Father's Day. Jordan Spieth shows well holding the U.S. Open trophy wearing a polar dial 42mm Explorer 2. With Rolex being a sponsor of the tourney, they couldn't be happier. Runner up was wearing an AP. Sounds about right to me 😄

I think he wore the same watch when he won the Masters. Excellent watch on one hell of a golfer.

Rolex is a sponsor of Spieth.
He may well love the watch, but he is paid nicely to wear it at the trophy presentation. Rolex was also a sponsor and "official timekeeper" to the whole tournament. |

I always wondered about this -Rolex and AP seem to have almost every player on tour covered as far as ambassadors go. I wonder how much players like Spieth, Tiger, Ricky and Adam Scott (all Rolex) are actually paid on a yearly basis to be Rolex Ambassadors? I'm of the opinion they don't really earn all that much unless they're doing commercials or corporate events. In which case they are paid a lump sum for that appearance. Could be way off but that's my guess.

I don't know how they are paid. I would guess a certain amount per year. In exchange, they have logos on their clothes, wear the watch in public at times, and, perhaps, go to corporate events from time to time. Some appear in ads. As to how much, it depends a lot on who it is. Tiger gets more than Adam Scott. Spieth's price just went up. |

He wore this same watch after he won the Masters earlier this year. He must either really like this model, or he has a superstitious attachment to it. (Surely, he could afford and/or ask for any model in the lineup!) He is quite a player who is putting together quite a year, and I look forward to seeing how he scores at the next major.

I personally know DJ and I promise you he will win his share. He has come back from quite a bit of problems in his life and the fact he is where he is now is quite amazing. My step son has DJs clubs he used at Q school.

Tiger and Graeme McDowell were both sporting DSSD in press conferences this week. Fowler was wearing the Platona and Speith Explorer ii. I could think of nothing better than being sponsored by Rolex.

I noticed Graemer didn't have AP listed the "Partners" page of his website, so this explains it! I guess he is with Rolex now...

I wonder how the arrangement works between Rolex and the athletes. Is there any choice, or is there an arrangement whereby by they have to rotate certain models? Does Rolex have certain models for specific athletes? You can't tell me that Rolex has left anything to random chance.

I saw Speith on the cover of Golf Digest a few months ago wearing a SS Daytona.
How many free watches would they get per year I wonder??? |
