Submarigator
I picked up this a 1990 Submariner last week and since it has the drilled lugs it is really easy to change out the bracelet to a strap. And I will admit that this black bezel Sub looks better with a leather strap than my Sub LV (I won't be getting any green leather straps). I like it on this matte Alligator strap for a change of pace. What do you guys think?

Interesting....gives it a whole different look!!
me personally...I have a hard time with a Rolex on anything other than a metal bracelet....or a Panerai on anything other than leather! that been said...I like your gator!!....but you have to come up with a good story...ie: lost my subby in the pond..went to get it..fought with a 8 ft. gator..he lost and now I have a new strap!!!

x2 , but it's your watch and if it makes you happy then that's all it matters. Thanks for sharing, Vince!

Funny, I thought I would like black gator on a Sub, but I really don't. Sorry. It looks very out of place, kind of like when I put an orange NATO on a Sub.
Any sort of strap besides a rubber diver or a NATO is tough to pull off on a Sub. |

Sorry Vince I'm with Ed. It's the gap between the strap and the lugs that I find disconcerting. Your black strap seems to magnify the distance when compared to your skin behind. All this seems less of an issue with a NATO which shows and goes behind the case.
But hey what do I know - it's your watch! Many congratulations on giving it a new home!

I like it. I think white threading would look great as well.

I don't think you can make a Sub look bad.........
.....Well, except for adding a green bezel.......

Still prefer the oyster bracelet that gives the sporty and rugged look.
Nice shiny leather strap to me is better fit for dressy watches. Still has not warmed up to Panerai that much.

I think this is the first time I have seen a Sub on an alligator strap, and I must say it looks nice.

Big fan of straps but I have to say that any kind of leather is out of place on a diving watch. Kinda says "hey I paid extra for the best diving watch in the world, but have no intention of ever using it for it's intended purpose" A NATO or a rubber strap would make more sense.
But it looks fine aesthetically.

Phew, for a moment I thought you were going to engrave the UF logo on your watch!
I love alligator/croc straps and a black one with the submariner is definitely an eye-catcher. Jealous, JC |

My opinion applies to the top picture:
When my eye is focused at the top-half of the watch face, it looks uniquely handsome. When my eye is focused at the bottom lug (top of the bottom strap) it looks mis-matched. Just my $.02. |

I like the strap - saves the bracelet for 'best'.
