Diamond bezel question

Earlier this year I bought a 1985 Rolex mid size Tridor. The watch is fitted with a diamond bezel which has the word ROLEX in the six o’clock position. I took the watch to a AD as my insurance company would not insure it without a written Rolex AD valuation. I took two Tridor watches for valuation. My AD said the diamond bezel was non genuine Rolex and as a result Rolex would not service the watch. He will give me a suitable valuation but I was very surprised to learn that the bezel was not genuine Rolex.

Have any forum members had similar experience

Many thanks Graham

An RSC will only service a watch if they can take it back to origional condition.which would mean replacing your after market bezel and replacing it with an origional..same goes for hands.dials and any other parts that were not origional at time of design
To Rolex your watch is frankenstein as it is made up from different parts

Pics. Sounds like a 'cartouche' bezel that the AD don't know what they're talking about.

Dear Forum experts.
My AD has made contact with Rolex this morning and confirmed that the Tridor midsize was fitted with the Cartouche diamond bezel from new.

The Cartouche bezel was fitted to some 18k solid gold models between the years of 1985 and 1987. The distinctive identification is the ROLEX lettering at 6 o'clock.

Many thanks for the forum members who helped identify it.

When I get the watch back from my AD I will post a picture.

Regards Graham

All good, you should really never believe an AD, most of them are just sales people without sufficient knowledge
