upgrade SS daytona to PM OR two watch collection?

Ive got a SS 116520 white face daytona that i daily. Love the watch. Life and business have been good and ive been thinking of trading plus cash to upgrade my daytona to a whitegold daytona with the slate racing dial.

I am usually a one watch guy, i wear a watch everyday. But ive been thinking about keeping the SS daytona and picking up a SS sub/gmt/seadweller.

It would all cost around the same on my end.

two watch collection? or go PM? remember i've been a one watch guy so far!
is it time to expand or upgrade?

what would you do?

The only caveat to this would be if there are some major sentimental attachments to your 116520….it doesn’t sound like there is, but if so, don’t be too quick to let it go as many have regretted this very same decision in those situations.

I say go the two watch route. Even if you're a one watch guy, sometimes it's nice to have a different watch in the mix. In this particular case, you could add an LN Sub or a BLNR/BLRO or whatever choice your heart desires and that would be a fantastic two watch collection. Later down the road, you could always trade your 116520 plus some cash for a different (PM) Daytona if your heart continues to desire it.

I could never been a 1 watch guy.
I don't think I could even cut down to 10
BUT
Nothing wrong with being a 1 watch guy, you do you!
But I would also buy a GShock so you have something to beat or wear when going to less than ideal areas.

Go for the PM Daytona but I would get a Tudor or something less expensive as a "beater"

I would expand and upgrade!! Get the PM Daytona and a 5-digit sub or GMT for a casual watch. I should probably do this! Keep us posted.

Trade the 116520 in on a 116509. You'll love the weight and feel of the white gold.

I say go for two. You will have more appreciation for your Daytona when you spend time away from it wearing the second watch.

Sounds like you got a lot of history with that Daytona. Id keep it and create some more memories with another piece of your choosing.

I think this is kind of an easy one, IMHO. Pick up a SS Sub, or GMT, or SeaDweller and keep the Daytona for a while & see if you like having the two watches. If not, then sell them both & then go for the PM Daytona.

Personally, I think for a one-watch collection, steel is probably better as sometimes you (appropriately) worry about wearing a PM watch more (dings/scratches/cost/weight). That said, the adage that once you go PM you can never go back- while not completely true- can be hazardous to your pocketbook. (That is, you are likely to wind-up with the PM Daytona AND another SS from your list!)

If you don’t need a date, PM Rolex. If you want a date on your watch or just to add variety, then a SS GMT is what I would recommend.

I would keep the Daytona that you have, great watch and an icon in SS. I would add a SS Submariner, 124060, ND, another icon and enjoy having a two watch collection that provides you with an option. The WG Daytona is a cool watch but not significantly better or really any better than what you have. Good luck and let us know what you decide.

I'm not sure why you're contemplating trading a watch you "love." From experience, I can tell you that is something you never, EVER want to do.

Go find the Daytona a nice playmate...or if you want to stick to being a one watch guy (and there's nothing wrong with that), buy something nice for yourself or invest it.

Make the upgrade.

Let me know if it works out.

Thinking of doing a similar upgrade from my one watch collection.
116500 white dial daytona to a 116509 blue dial daytona.
